Things seem different.

When you leave to go to college, I guess things change. Sure everything looks the same but a lot of things are different. All the news you knew about your surroundings you know longer have to know or think about on a daily basis. I found that I don't know a lot of what is going on back here. Things in the communitity are different despite their ( Read more... )

You're simply finding the depressing truth behind growing older.

Things do change. People change, or drift apart from one another. No one can really explain why it happens. But you just have to look to the things you do have and be appreciative of those. Of course, you never forget the way things used to be, as it's always nice to look back on those times with particular fondness.

But remember: always look to the future! All of the most depressing characters in literature, to me at least, are the ones who's heads are stuck in their past, unable to see the great parts of the present or the prospective hopes for the future.

I don't mean to lecture or bore you with any of this. But it needs to be said.

Life changes...sometimes for the worse, but mostly it happens for the better.

I know what you mean. Rochester isn't the same. It's a pain to get anywhere, which makes hanging out with people all the time, like in college, really hard. I haven't seen some of you guys in almost a year and a half, and that kind of scares me :-/ I wonder what kind of people you've all become, or if you've changed at all, and if you'll think I've changed at all. It's weird that I almost view Ithaca as my home now, or at least a second home, and I think I'm more comfortable there than here.

The farther we get from high school, the less important the high school friendships seem to people. But I'm a proponent of keeping old and new as long as you value both sets.

P.S. I know this doesn't say much, but I'm just not as enthusiastic this break to be home. I want to be out in the world doing things.

I'm with ya brina, (and yes, I do read this still,I just don't usually comment) people and things change, it's so weird coming back and thinking about where everyone is now. There are so many people I wish I could hang out with again but it would be awkward...so as you put it "shoulder shrug".

on a lighter note, we should hang out sometime this week and do...something. I dunno, xbox or something, let me know if you wanna. I"m free all this week (except for tomorrow that is :-P )
