I'll probably woe about this in about ten years, but right now I'm torn between amusement and sympathy for my (not-so-beloved) little brother. He is, put in short, a brat. He shouts a lot, swears a lot, has a real 'me versus the world' outlook on life, can't understand why he's doing badly in school when he does no work whatsoever, he's materialistic, he's grasping... I could go on?
To add to that, he is suffering from 'middle child syndrome'. He doesn't like that, me being the oldest, I get things first. Like a car, for example. Dad's told him that if his old car doesn't sell, George can have that. But he's huffing over that because it's not a particularly good car. Hell, the only reason I'm getting this new one is because Dad's got to re-take his driving test and he doesn't want to do it in the Cinquecento. It's all luck. George also hates with a passion that me and Hope get ponies. Well, screw that. They're our chosen hobby, as well as Mum's chosen hobby. He plays football, tennis, golf and cricket. I have one hobby, and it's the horses. He doesn't like it? Well, screw him.
The thing is, he never gives any inclination of deserving anything. If he does something good, then generally he'll get rewarded-- seriously, he's had to be bribed to pass his GCSEs. However, he's so behind soon it will be impossible to catch up. He spends all of his time either off playing some sport or another, or surfing eBay. He's unpleasant, he argues all the time with Dad, he fights with Hope, he often bullies Max, and he resents me. If he were slightly more pleasant (and believe me, he can be really nice), got off his arse and did the work he needs to do, and didn't spend all his time trying to keep up with all the fads etcetera... well, who knows.
Um... yeah.
What else? Oh, I think I'm going off Martin Freeman. I think he's a brilliant actor and comic, but seriously,
look at this interview. Some carefully veiled insults, I think not. Just live and let live, Martin.
I need to watch Parky from last night: Ricky Gervais, Antonio Banderas, Robert Lindsay and music from James Blunt. Huzzah! :D
Amazon is being nice again. The other day I ordered Ed Wood, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow and The Machinist (three for my auteur study, one for shocking cinema at the end of the year). Ed Wood and Beetlejuice are already here. Yay! Though don't you hate when you re-watch something and it's nowhere near as good as you remember? I've not seen Beetlejuice for about five years, and I remember it being awesomely weird and really funny. It wasn't. Parts made me giggle, but it seemed so short and... I dunno, I just felt let-down afterwards. Like, 'That's it?' Hopefully Ed Wood will be better, since I've never seen it and have no preconceptions whatsoever :)
Anyway, I'm off for now. I shall cease my pointless whining :)
