Dear Family

I know this is going to come as a shock to you, especially as I near my 30th birthday and remain unmarried, single and childless, but I’m going to be okay. I’m not unfulfilled, depressed or lonely. I’m sure as fuck not less of a woman because of these three things. I don’t need to hear about how being unmarried and childless at 30 is going to lead ( Read more... )

Hee! If it helps, I'm single and childless at 52 and could not be happier about the latter, especially. (Also, there's this newfangled thing called adoption, if I ever decide I desperately need a child in my life.) I'm not lonely or unfulfilled, so if you need a real life example to give them, go ahead. :)

I suspect you're going to be just fine!

I suspect I'll be just fine too! I'm starting to get more vocal in speaking up, though I don't feel I should need to defend being single, childless and thirty.

No, you shouldn't, but it's not uncommon for families to get like that. My brother freaked out when he found out I was planning to have my tubes tied. I didn't think it was ANY of his business, but he got all upset because it was like I was leaving him with all the responsibility of carrying on the family for another generation. IDK, families are weird.

I can feel your frustration, I'm 22 and I'm already hearing all this stuff. Well, we can choose family, right? But don't worry about them! Want some good Sterek? :D

Don't let them get to you. I had my twins at 41 and it was the best time to have them. I feel so much more patient with them than I would have been if I had them earlier, because I got to have so many life experiences before they were born. I didn't miss out on anything.
