When I moved to DC I knew absolutely no one here. Being 100% alone all the time really forced me to get into the habit of making an effort to meet people and be-friend them. Mainly I ended up making friends with a couple of people who were much more established in DC and through them I met a ton of other awesome people. Of course, not having to drive made that a whole lot easier.

DC is certainly not the best city in the country, but I think you would actually really like Baltimore. I don't know if you've ever seen the show The Wire, but it's set in Baltimore and it's pretty amazing. Charm City has a good mix of grit and an amazing underground arts/music scene. It's also Albuquerque cheap to live there. You're welcome to crash with me and Izzy if you ever make a journey out this way.
