Blegh, I really disagree with the idea that this life is somehow in preparation for the life in Heaven. The point of living is just to live, ya know? I feel that the only person you need to reconcile with is yourself, so essentially, if I wanted to do "good deeds" I would do it for myself, not God or to reach Heaven or to make up for something. I think sometimes people take themselves and the world too seriously.

i see what you mean. just know i don't do good deeds to get into heaven. i do them because i want to, and it makes me feel good to know i've done something good for someone else.

I know what you mean about that "It's ok" feeling after prayer. Like you said, it feels good to have someone greater than you. When you feel bad or angry you can go to your parents, but there's always that feeling(once you hit a certain age) that they aren't perfect either. And that's why it feels good to go to someone that is beyond you to such an extent. It's the feeling that you had about your parents when you were little, they were flawless and would never let you down.
