Hypothesis: because the first forms of flirting are generally aggressive (pulling hair, pinching, making fun of), girls are conditioned to respond positively to these types of behaviors because they are taught it means a guy likes them.

And soooo true! I remember my biggest crush in 4th grade used to tease me a lot. He used to call me a cow and made a moo-ing noise whenever he saw me. But he would always stick up for me if his best friend made fun of me. Then in 7th grade, he became my first boyfriend. Awww. Now he's married, so that's wierd. But anyway, I totally agree.
