Dev was whistling. In all the years he'd been alive, he couldn't remember ever whistling because he was in a good mood. It always seemed like such a trite thing for someone to do, and he'd sworn that it could never be a genuine display of one's happiness. Actually Tom was doing just that, walking one of the trails that meandered around the island, thinking of Dev and humming to himself; some song from that movie about the gay cowboys. The more he hummed the more he smiled to himself, wondering what Dev was doing and wishing he were right there beside him, walking the trail.

Stopping at the top of the bluff he decided to try his cell and see if he could call his lover. Thinking of Dev that way made his smile grow even wider as he listened to the phone ring and hoped Dev wasn't at work.

When the phone rang, Dev quickly put down his plate, dusted off his hands and reached to answer it.

"Hello?"
