Ouch. This would make Richard feel like such a shit, even though he didn't mean to hurt Dev. He never thought he would fall in love and it surprised him when he did.

Dev doesn't care that Richard fell in love. He's just shocked by A) who he fell for and B) the fact he pretty much thought he'd fallen off the face of the planet only to find out he'd been running around with his "real" friends. He's not used to giving a damn what people do and he rarely opens up the way he did with Richard. I guess he's just feeling screwed after getting screwed.
