The Realtor called today and the bank apparently approved our offer!  Now, if all goes well with the upcoming inspection etc, then we should be closing right before Christmas!  There is no way in hell I'm moving before Christmas, though!  Maybe mid-January!  YAY!! It'll get way more exciting closer to moving day

That's so great! I dream of the day that we'll own a house, probably won't be any time soon. I'm wondering about your job though because isn't it tied to your apartment?

Nope! I have been doing two separate jobs since I was hired--though a lot of the time they blended together. No other managers actually live on site other than myself... but the live-in program we have offers a free apartment to an individual or family willing to walk the grounds every night checking for cars w/o permits or problems, and responding to after hours maintenance emergencies.

So another family will be moving into here to take over that job... I still get paid through my RHA Asset Manager job during the day. I'm just a little worn out of Reno Housing Authority 24-7 which is why I'm ecstatic to be moving. The deal here is really sweet, but not as sweet when you're doing both jobs for a long period of time!

sounds like that set you guys up pretty good to save some money!
i saw a couple of those listings on craigslist when we moved down here and i had a slight twinge of regret for going for the apartment we ended up in, but then again, i love the apartment we ended up in, so i guess it's all good.
