On the Election

Wow. What a night. Seriously. This is the first election night since I have been voting that I have gone to bed knowing who the next president will be. Actually, Nicky went to bed knowing and since she goes to bed much earlier than I do that is saying something. They say the third time is the charm, and this is the third election that I have ( Read more... )

Well obviously you know what I will say here, I think 26% is a landslide better then 2%. I'm pointing my finger at Brit Hume for that one. I think he called like four states when only 2% of the votes had been counted. Pennsylvania being the first. *Sigh* It was absurd.

As for Obama... well there's a large chunk of my conspiratorial side that really thinks he was set up. I have a sad feeling the country is going to be calling him "Jimmy Jr." before his term is up. Despite me having already called him such. Looking back on it all it was too convenient for Hillary to slack off and it really looks like McCain threw his own campaign. Coincidence? I think not. Something big is going to happen and I think Obama is going to get stuck as the scapegoat. I would feel bad for him if I didn't think he was a elitist, socialist, jerk. I do feel bad for his family though.

To address this Jimmy Carter issue...I have seen you mention it several times. You know what? I have been wondering if he would be more like Carter or Kennedy, or perhaps FDR as the media wants to liken him to. The Carter concern has been on my mind since the primaries. It is a possibility, but just as McCain is not George W Bush and reminded Obama of that in the third debate, Obama is not Jimmy Carter. I say give the man a chance before you call him Carter. I know that theme has chained out in the conservative media, and I was not surprised to see it but I was surprised at how well I called it, but I think it an unfair analogy until we see what Obama really does. And hey, I am optimistic but if he disappoints me as much as Bush did, I am not above voting for a different candidate in 2012. But I seriously urge you to stop likening him to Carter, because that simplifies him far too much. He may be like Carter in some ways, but he will be different in others and the context for the two presidencies is different ( ... )
