I hate pretentious film fans

First, I will start this off in saying that Transformers was without a doubt the best summer movie all year, I had so much fun watching the movie, and was sad when it was over. Of all the movies this year, Spidey, Potter, Pirates, or even Shrek were nothing in comparison. Keep in mind that I generally HATE Michael Bay films, but after watching ( Read more... )

I want to see the film, but I hate sitting through long films at the cinema. That's the only reason I haven't gone. I was never a nutty fan as a child (I had a short attention span - the only show I could watch without getting bored was Inspector Gadget), but enjoyed the DVDs and movies when the videos were hard to get and it had this sort of cult status in the early 90s. To me, nothing is going to surpass the G1/Movie anyway. If it's enjoyable without being too stupid (Hello Spiderman 2? I'd like those moments back please..) I'll like it. And having Peter Cullen reprising the role? There's at least one watch from me.. :)

Ps - You liked Citizen Kane? I must be one of the few people in the world who didn't like that...

I don't know if you ever saw my response to watching the movie the day it came out... but I was incredibly surprised at how well Michael Bay did... it wasn't near as crappy as Pearl Harbor and still had that Transformers feel about it. I was expecting a LOT worse only to get something that was shiny and kind of amusing to watch.

I realize that they couldn't make everything exactly as it used to be simply for the fact that there are comics and cartoons and multiple storylines you could follow. So I think the film worked on the level of combining things that I wouldn't have otherwise put in the film.

It was a little cheesy at times, but what is a Transformer's movie without a little 80's moral cheese that spawned it in the first place?

I'm mildly interested to see how Bay does with the next two Transformers movies.

I need to go back and read it, I skipped it over because it had spoilers, and I saw it a week later....I'll try to find it.
