LOG- Shoon and Kyle talk. And Shoon has a revelation he wishes he didn't.
Kyle: *warm from the outdoor workout despite the cold; he's trudging outside and heading back to the manor*
Shoon: *waiting beside the door as Kyle walks in* Hey.
Kyle: *blinks* Oh. Hey, Shoon. Where's your friend? The fighting monk?
Shoon: In our room, I think. He can get around fine in the manor.
Shoon: Anyways. I need to talk to you somewhere. Private.
Kyle: Sure. Anywhere you want. *flips his glaive so the point is down*
Shoon: *eyes the glaive with some disdain for a moment before jerking his head towards the study near the entrance and heading over. He opens the door and walks in, and takes a seat on the desk, waiting for Kyle to follow*
Kyle: *he follows and shuts the door, but not before leaning his weapon against the wall. So now he's unarmed, except for his sword, which he never uses*
Shoon: So... *pauses before continuing* I think...something very wrong is going on. And as you're the only person who has any official connection to Falena, you're the only person I can talk to.
Kyle: All right. Lay it on me.
Shoon: I think... the Sun Rune maybe here. Or something connected to it anyways. Because, the ice, all that happening, it happened on the solstice. And the ice... it was snow from the blizzard that must have melted when ... whatever happened, happened. *frowns* It's just... too much of a ... a ... I don't know. It's just too fishy to be a coincidence. *Looks up at Kyle* Is there anyone here who's been to Falena recently? Because I think someone stole the Sun Rune.
Kyle: You think someone stole it? *well, that's an interesting possibility*
Shoon: I didn't think about for awhile, not until that Kidd was snooping around Sir Lepant's shop and yelled at me for "messing up the crime scene." and was talking about everything happening on the solstice. And, yeah, I think someone stole it. Or something. I don't know. *rubs his face with both hands* It's all that Kidd's fault, if he hadn't been snooping around I wouldn't have thought about this.
Kyle: Well, you do have a good point there. I don't know if anybody's tripped down to Falena recently, so I can't answer that question. As for whether it's the Sun Rune, it could be but then again, it might not. There's so many True Runes gathered here, it might be a freak accident from something else. You gotta consider every possibility.
Shoon: *frowns* I don't think it could be any of the others. Too many connections to the sun.
Kyle: Unless it's some other True Rune that I haven't heard of. So it's either some other Rune or the Sun Rune, if we're keeping all the options open. Having it be stolen would be very bad.
Shoon: Which is why I'm talking to you. Since, you know, Lady Arshtat is...supposed to be dead. And Lymselia is....nowhere to be found.
Kyle: *holy crap, that's a good point!* Well, let me think. *as in: How can I keep this boy from getting killed and helping me out at the same time?* First, let me ask you. I know you were recruited into the Prince's army pretty late in the game. How much do you know of the Godwins abusing the Sun Rune?
Shoon: I knew they were melting glaciers, but that's about it. They somehow got to use it without someone actually bearing it. Which is weird, and doesn't make sense at all.
Kyle: They had it on some kind of statue. *has a sudden thought* Shoon. Maybe there -is- something you can do. The Rune, if it's here, might be on a statue. This castle has all kinds of art and statues.
Kyle: If I tried poking my head around, this thief might get jumpy. But if you tried...
Shoon: I don't have any idea what it would look like.
Kyle: The statue or the rune?
Shoon: *rolls eyes* I know what the rune looks like. I spent most of my childhood in the arena. There's a big ol' picture of Falenan Runes in the arena always, like a coat of arms.
Kyle: *slaps his own forehead* Good point. The statue? It was a bust of a woman, and I mean the head and shoulders of a woman.
Shoon: *annoyed now* I know what a bust is.
Kyle: *he had to add it only because so many people would assume he meant otherwise* Fine. It's a bust of a woman, but if this thief managed to steal it, it could be anywhere.
Shoon: *sighes* Well, ok. I'll look for it.
Kyle: One other thing. *doesn't know if this will work, but anything's possible* If you find some likely looking statues, even if they don't have the rune attached, let me know where they are. I don't know if we can do it, but maybe we can make one of the statues house the Sun Rune if it's floating around.
Shoon: *nods* Gotcha
Kyle: *smiles* Thank you, Shoon. I appreciate it. And...I'm sorry. For striking you. I was just a little too zealous in my duty in defending the royal family.
Shoon: *eyes narrow* There's a difference between true loyalty and blind loyalty, Kyle. *slids off the desk* No matter how bipolor Lady Arshtat may be, it's your duty as her knight to make sure she doesn't go off the deep end. *looks up at him* you don't coddle them into being tyrants who think they're immortal goddesses....*freezes and stares at Kyle*
Kyle: You're right. It is my duty to make sure she doesn't go off the deep end. And to do that, I have to think ahead and react quickly. Shoon, -please-. Go look for statues like you promised. Because if you do find a good one, you -will- be doing more good than you realize.
Shoon: *shakes himself* Whatever. I'll go find your bust.
Kyle: Thank you. I appreciate it. I hope that I can keep the difference between true and blind loyalty straight in my head. *nods to him, picks up his glaive and leaves*
Shoon: *stares after him and then, in a whisper* Fuck.
