A rather dreary weekend, a rather dreary beginning to the week. Hopes for a wild weekend, being crushed by a certain friend's incompetance led to me deciding to go home early after a few beers at Nada with Andreas, mattias and an exgirlfriend or two that I'd rather have avoided. I had a nice time, I just hadn't planned to end the whole evening at ( Read more... )

I'm sure they don't know what they're talking about.
A put-down for Martin Esslin is unthinkable. It makes tolerant people like myself totally intolerant.
But I come from an era in which the absurdists were anything but irrelevant so perhaps you're right - it's the times that are a-changing. On the other hand, have these people not read or seen a Beckett play recently and wept with Winnie and waited ....and waited for..., have they not looked again at Albee and met someone who will share their zoo story, and have they not, along with Ionesco and myself seen the rhinos running in the street and dealt with the corpse that is invading our lives? Irrelevant...not to my life and history.

Yeah god, I'm starting to realise that winter can be horrible with kids. Colds are a nightmare. Polly sucks her thumb, so when she's got cold she decides to skip breathing rather than skip her thumb. Lots of tears, lots of long nights.
I'm feeling very gah right now actualy

I agree, I find it hard to think of them as irrelevant. they're still a very real way of seeing the world as far as I'm concerned. Still maybe that whole existential nightmare shebang is old hat. I find it hard to see what the current currency for dealing with big questions is however, in what way Beckett and co are lacking ( ... )

It wasn't really that good a letter more a snivveling tirade. I was right, which gave it a certain amount of weight but it was horribly written.
Actualy I do have a copy but it's in Swedish, which precludes most people here from understanding it, I'd imagine.

God, doesn't that make me sound flash.

Yeah it was great, wasn't it? I missed it when it was transmitted here but it's being repeated on Saturday. Sounds like it was something to be seen as well.
