What his arm wrapped around instead was cool and rough, kinda like an alligator's hide. He squeezed his eyes briefly before opening them.
They stayed open - very, very open - and for a moment, he was frozen where he was. It was beyond comprehension. It was so unnormal that it made waking up next to Asher seem like an every second occurance.
He had a freaking dinosaur in his bed and not in a metaphorical way. That was the moment Ray started screaming and pulling away and scrambling as fast as he possibly could to get out of the bed. It wasn't necessarily in that order though.

"What?!" Asher said, pushing himself up with taloned front claws. "What is it?!" It better have fucking been good. If Ray wasn't actually about to die, Asher would make sure he'd wish he were after that awakening.

Once it clicked, it was Asher's turn to scream, only his came out as a series of high screeches and hollow barks, before he started charging around the cramped area in a blind panic.

It was only when he was halfway to the door that he noticed the flowers. Springing up around his feet, circling his knees and entwining themselves together. Every one was brightly coloured and sweet smelling and no amount of hopping on the spot unstuck them from his feet. They were the flowers for his grave, he could tell.
"Asher!!!" He yelled, already thinking the worst. His bofriend was probably mulch in the dinosaur's stomach. This was what he got for thinking maybe the island wasn't so bad just for one morning.
