A/N: This is a short story about from Mizuki's point of view. For those who don't remember/don't know, Mizuki is the dude in episode 1 who tries to trick Naruto into stealing a scroll, and shows up during the filler episodes to reveal that he and Iruka were best friends as kids, but that the friendship was based solely on Mizuki's desire to watch ( Read more... )

*shudder* Oh gods, I found that really horrific. Sneaky sabotage-y stuff really creeps me out. I thought it was a "nice" range of spiteful acts without ever tipping over into blatant violence and the bitterness of the character came through really well!

Thank you for commenting! It was meant to be creepy and horrific, so I'm glad it came across that way. I mean, it's pretty damn creepy in canon, so. I didn't want to go into any outright violence because in canon, Iruka wasn't really aware of Mizuki's intentions, and was totally shocked when he found out. So, I think if Mizuki were to actually be violent, there wouldn't be any good reason for him not to know. Also, sometimes it's more unsettling if it's more understated? I think? Maybe?

Anyway, thanks for the comment. It means a lot to me that you always seem to read my work even when it's a fandom you don't know! ♥

Oh, I see - then yes, I think that works really well, it's definitely the kind of thing Iruka wouldn't pick up on. I think the sneakiness of it and the messing with sleep patterns, physiological responses, etc, is really nasty (like I said, that's a real creep-out-thing of mine) so I thought it worked well!

D'awww ^^ well, your fics always seem to have intriguing premises and you're a really good writer, so I'm generally tempted to check them out!

Yeah...while physical abuse is definitely a real, serious thing, I think that sometimes it's a little too easy to resort to that in fiction? Like, it's very straightforward. I mean, it's complicated why someone who stay with someone who does that to them, but the actual, physical event is very simple. Or it's excessively violent and sensationalist. It's hard to do in a way that accurately portrays the issue, I guess.

That makes me happy--and it's nice to know that someone is reading it because I did it and they think that I'm a good writer, rather than just because they like the pairing or the character or whatever.
