I think the first step to a successful negotiation would be to send someone other than me to negotiate.

I’ve got some things I’m good at - really good at. I don’t think negotiation is one of them. I also don’t think it ever will be. I’m not exactly good at resolving things peacefully. I managed it once, mostly by accident - I came back from a bit

Negotiation only works if you've got something you're willing to give up - otherwise, you just gotta go balls out after what you want. Sounds like you've got that down well.
