Heartbeat... why did you stop bothering with the 60s?

WTF? Has anyone watched the 1960s-styled (apparently!) police TV series Heartbeat recently?

They seem to be scattering modern-styled characters and sets amongst 60s-styled characters and sets, with the result that it looks completely stupid.

I try to avoid English Drama as much as possible, so I was incredibly disturbed to find out that Heartbeat is still running.

I mean, fuck, they have to be up to the 80's by now!

I just can picture the tough Yorkshire Sergeant (played by him off Yes Minister) briefing the officers:

"Aye, Snodgrass has been rustling cattle, there's more kerfuffle in the village about the length of Miss Jane's skirt, and once again Lord Fotherington-Smythe's boy has been ram-raiding and smoking crack."
