I love the way Nick Drake used harmony. It's a little bit off from what you would expect to hear, the way he'd change it in the middle of a measure or add a sudden new note or rhythm- it's the way he barely avoided the obvious that makes his songs so perfect to me. Terribly drunk off of wine and finally lost in absurd dreamworlds, I woke softly from the sound of my own laughter. Warm and lovely under blankets, deep inside of arms less foreign each evening, the morning rose while I slipped back into swirling storylines of destruction and rubber ducks.
