Surfing through the news online is arguably the most productive way to waste one's time.
Former Nebraska middle school math teacher Kelsey Peterson pleaded guilty in June 2008 to taking a minor across state lines to Mexico to have sex. She was accused of having a sexual relationship with the 13-year-old former student that started in 2006. She was sentenced in September to six years in federal prison.
Former South Carolina elementary school teacher Wendie Schweikert, 37, pleaded guilty to having sex with an 11-year-old student. In June 2007, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
(Yeah, that's how we do it here in the South.)
In 2005, former Tennessee gym teacher Pamela Rogers received an eight-year sentence for having sex with a 13-year-old student. She later sent suggestive photos to the boy and got two years added.
(Wow, genius, good move.)
Reports said British boy Alfie Patten, 13, fathered his 15-year-old girlfriend's child. But other teens have since claimed possible paternity. An acquaintance of the mother's family alleges several boys -- including Patten -- could be the father but that Patten was named without verification to make money from the story.
Dear god:

Welsh prosecutors said video taken on a cell phone showed the tot popping a cigarette into his mouth, lighting it and taking a puff. The judge said it was clear the child was a habitual smoker but gave Pocock, 24, a suspended sentence.
Esmin Green had been waiting nearly 24 hours in a New York psychiatric ward emergency room on June 19 when she fell face down onto the floor. As captured on a surveillance video that shocked the nation, hospital staff and other patients took a look at her but did nothing for an hour. Green died.
This is fucking nuts:
Austrian Josef Fritzl allegedly told police in April that he kept his daughter Elisabeth prisoner in a cellar apartment for 24 years, fathering seven children with her. He is charged with murder in the death of one child who died shortly after birth, and he faces other charges regarding Elisabeth. Three of the surviving children were allegedly imprisoned with Elisabeth, and Fritzl and his wife raised the other three.
