Surely the five of you who still read LJ remember the Graduation Conspiracies, wherein I surprised my siblings and parents by flying down for graduations? Turnabout is fair play, it seems, as a couple weeks ago, my sister and parents surprised me! Wow, I don't even know you and I want to be in those family pics b/c they look like so much fun! I only have one sister who I very rarely see as an adult and we aren't close, and then our cousins were (basically) a generation older than us and we didn't meet/know/hang with really any of them.

It's so weird to me when people talk about not being close to their siblings or their cousins. I can't imagine what that's like. Especially not being close to your siblings.

I mean, similarly, I can't imagine what it's like to have a healthy, loving relationship with one's parents.

Let's just say it's not like I'm doing so well on the second one either (I think for at least semi-similar reasons to yours though different too, conservative religious European immigrant parents).

I do wonder if the sib/cousin bit helps some with the parental thing?
