Icon Tutorial: Colouring + Smoothness

Jun 30, 2010 21:11

Got some requests for a tutorial on the technique I usually use, so here it is. Hopefully I do it justice. It works the best for brighter screencaps and higher quality images, but depending on one's adjustment of the tutorial, it can work pretty well with dark caps too.

*waves hysterically* Hey you! We haven't talked in like F O R E V E R! And that's really my fault because I rarely ever get on MSN anymore. But I really should.

Anyways, the tut looks nice I'll have to give it a shot!

I tried it out, but I can't do the very last step. When I click on filter and noise, the only options I have are Add Noise, Despeckle, Dust & Scratches and Median. So I just did despeckle. I don't know if that's right or not, but that's what I did. I have Photoshop 7.

*SQUISHES lifes_not_long* HIYA! :D It's alright, I'm rarely on MSN either. I've moved onto YIM, heh.

Yeah, I wasn't sure whether CS2 would be compatible with some of the other versions...mostly because mine is so outdated, apparrently (judging by no body selling it online), lol. It's weird that they wouldn't include Reduce Noise in PS7. Despeckle might work out pretty well for lower quality images/dark images though. I'll have to try it myself at some point, lol.

When I tried to do the tut on another icon, every time I opened a new adjustment layer or adjusted the selective color layer, it kept opening up the Photoshop Help webpage. I don't know why, it's never done that before when I've done layers. but I've since restarted my computer, so maybe when I next bring up Photoshop and try it again, it'll be okay. LOL. PS7 is so tempermental sometimes lol.

I was thinking about getting a CS version, but I can only find the new one online to buy and it's like 600 or 700 bucks lol. I can't afford that. I got PS7 from my cousin, so I didn't have to buy it at all and I only paid like 50 bucks for my paint shop pro lol. To me anything over fifty for a photo program is too much lol.
