Television Without Pity

I can't believe this is seriously what I did on my day off. I just spent the last seven hours of my life lying in bed, eating Pringles and watching Anne of Green Gables on PBS. I have never been so exhausted from watching television in my entire life. On the other hand:

I had a friend in high school who was batshit for Anne of Green Gables. She's a chemist now, so obviously you're on the road to a new and exciting career. It's just like vocational school, only awesomer.

Then my major in ancient Sumerian basket weaving with double minors in obscure Russian poetry and logrolling weren't for naught! My career is soon to blossom thanks to Anne of Green Gables! Whatta swell gal!

Your predilection for brutalizing yourself with Public Broadcasting television miniseries tells me that you and I are clearly kindred spirits. And I think seven straight hours of Anne Shirley and her charmed life of awkward social interactions will alternately delight and depress you, with the feeling of depression springing mostly from the sudden, dawning realization that you've spent the entire day in bed with your eyes glued to the TV while surrounded by empty cans of Mountain dew and Taco Bell Gordita wrappers.

Holy shit. I had forgotten about Gorditas. Do they even still make those?

Hello, random commenter. Clearly the Universe has conspired to bring us all together today through Anne of Green Gables. I still can't believe I watched the entire series in one go. I even watched the sequel...or threequel...or...whatever it was. The Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story where she went to France during World War I. I don't know why, but the entire movie kind of weirded me out.
