I've tried a couple times to read Sandman but I'm such a delicate flower I can't bear the imagery and have always stopped a short ways into the first volume of the collected Sandman. I can read dark stuff, but I have a much harder time if visuals are involved.

Hmmm, interesting! Sandman definitely has some gruesome visuals here and there, though I'd say that overall Watchmen is much more grim and depressing. If you're going to make another try at reading it, I recommend issue #50, "Ramadan," which is a stand-alone --also illustrated by P. Craig Russell-- and one of the most shockingly beautiful comics ever made.

It was tuff work getting through Watchmen. Since I'd borrowed it and had to return it, I think that gave me the impetus to get through it.

Thanks for the suggestion on "Ramadan"! I will try it. I really think I would like it if I could just find my way in.
