NAME(S): Yuusei Fudou ; New King (of Riding Duel) ; No. G2MA2-88
CANON & TIMELINE: Episode 64, Towards Our Future--In which Yuusei and Co. ride off into the sunset after building a bridge to connect a once-decrepit island to a flowering city.
AGE: 18
THE CHARACTER
APPEARANCE: (

Image 2 |
Image 3) Yuusei is, for the most part, of average height and weight (around 5'7") with jet black hair streaked jaggedly with gold throughout the sides, which angle upwards to form a crab-like (*is shot*) shape on either side of his head. His bangs come down into his eyes which are a deep shade of blue. Beneath his left-hand eye, he bears a Security/Criminal marker with a triangle just beneath his eye and a jagged line coming all the way down his cheek and stopping right at the edge of his jaw. On his right arm, he bears the mark of the Crimson Dragon (the head), thus making him one of the five Signers. For body shape, he is fairly slim, but with a muscular build, particularly in his arms. Fighting in the style of a martial artist, Yuusei's body type is therefore not very bulky. Clothing-wise, Yuusei usually wears a pair of dark jeans with a brown belt, a black shirt with red detailing, a blue jacket that practically matches the color of his eyes, and orange shoulder, elbow, and knee pads, with similar orange baubles at his neck, the bottom of his coat, and on his gloves, which are brown, similar to his boots.
PERSONALITY: For the main character of a series involving the fate of the world, Yuusei isn't a person who talks a lot. Part of this is merely due to his observant personality. While he does talk a bit more at this point in canon, he still remains relatively quiet around complete strangers unless it is to ask a question or to answer one. This aspect of his personality makes him seem very serious most of the time (which about 90% of the time he is, card games are very serious business, as is motorcycle repair, and the upcoming WRGP) and yet people, including children, still find him approachable. It's probably because Yuusei cherishes all good bonds that he makes.
Tying in with his serious demeanor, comes the viewed apathetic attitude towards most things. While with people who annoy him, he acts as if he doesn't care about much of anything, people who get to know him actually find out that he actually does care about quite a few things, one being his friends. He cares for them deeply and truly. Should anything happen to even one hair on their heads, he becomes protective and will stop at nothing to make sure that no harm comes to his tight-knit group. After all that they've been through, Yuusei isn't about to let anything take them away from their all somewhat happy, comfortable lives. It is important to mention that while Yuusei does remain aloof and cold, he is polite to those who are polite to him and conscientious of others.
Yuusei is stuck firmly in the belief that nothing is useless and that everything, no matter how smashed up or trashed, can be reused. Back in The Satellite, one did what they had to do to live. In Yuusei's case, it was always building and tinkering that saved him. He's been known to take very good care of everything he owns from his Duel Monsters deck to his D-Wheel to his friends. Hearing that someone or something is "useless" makes him twitch, make a face, and then proceed to go on about how nothing, and he means nothing, is without any sort of worth or use.
With 17 years of living in The Satellite under his belt, Yuusei has taught himself many things in order to keep on living somewhat comfortably (even if the word "comfortably" means a couch with really rusty, about-to-burst-through springs and barely any food in an abandoned subway station with four other people.) He is very resourceful, and in their resourcefulness comes his ability to build something out of nothing. This all gives way to his constant need to tinker and fix in order to keep himself relatively calm and feeling productive. If he goes too long without having anything to really work his hands with, he becomes somewhat anxious and a bit annoyed. This gets worse with time unless he manages to find something to occupy himself with.
Second chances are doled out like candy from Yuusei as well as the simple act of forgiving. Any sort of grudge that he could hold against a person, he doesn't. Instead, like in the case of Kiryu Kyosuke and Team Satisfaction's Final Duel, Yuusei takes the blame upon himself for Kiryu's capture, not Kiryu's own irresponsibility and recklessness. Regarding the Zero Reverse incident, even after his father is long gone and dead, Yuusei still is angered (at himself even) for being able to procure such life-long friends like Jack and Crow who "smile upon [him] without being asked" as he so phrased it in his duel with Rudger.
Yuusei is not very fond of any sort of authoritative figure, particularly those who abuse his/her power. Having come from a place full of urban segregation and corrupt officials, he will not tolerate anyone trying to put a leash on his dignity and right to livelihood. He also actually doesn't like being told what to do. When he was younger, he was apart of a rebellious gang called Team Satisfaction who went over the heads of authority to bring "justice" to their home through duels. He also has a penchant for getting in bad with the law, though with aforementioned urban segregation, part of it wasn't even his fault, it was just pure prejudice.
One of the final, more important part of Yuusei's personality description, is his messiah complex. If Yuusei had it his way all the time, he'd fight all the baddies by himself and leave each and every one of his friends out of it in order to save them. This complex of his usually sets him off into a more reckless mode, in which he will ditch his friends to fight all the dangers that constantly surround his world alone. His friends, however, do not stand for this. However, once Yuusei discovers something he must head for (be it his Destiny Duel with Jack, fighting the Dark Signers, facing Kiryu again, or battling against the bearer of the Condor Mark--Rex Godwin) he becomes obsessed with completing the task in order to save everyone and everything he loves. HISTORY & WORLD-BUILDING: Yuusei was born into the Tops area of Neo Domino City, one of the ritziest places to live in all of the city, to a pair of wealthy scientists, both of which were working on the development of an energy source called "Momentum” within the group Momentum Investigation and Development Section or M.I.D.S. for short. Before Yuusei even reach the age of two, there was a meltdown at the facility due to the fact that one of Dr. Fudou's assistants, Rudger Godwin, planned to develop the Momentum even further, to the point where it became dangerous. The explosion wreaked havoc upon Neo Domino City, but before Dr. Fudou perished in the rubble, he sent his son, Yuusei, into a small escape pod (a la Superman) so that he might live to see one more day than his father. It is somewhat assumed that Martha found Yuusei at this age and brought him right into her care.
Yuusei lived in the slums for roughly seventeen years of his life, picking up street smarts as well as a great deal of book smarts while he grew up with his friend Jack and later on Crow (two orphans from the "Zero Reverse" incident among many, as it was called.) He educated himself in science as far as we know, and mechanics as he grew older. The three boys came to meet Kiryu Kyousuke at ~14-15 years of age and created a group entitled "Team Satisfaction." This team that Yuusei became a part of decided to make due with the place they called home and tried to make it safe by means of claiming sectors of it at a time from rival dueling gangs that were causing mischief. However, once all the sectors were claimed, Kiryu grew bored and decided that it was time to take on their greatest challenge, Security (a form of police in Neo Domino City that made sure that people living in The Satellite stayed there.) Slowly, the team began to disband at the formation of this idea--first Crow and then Jack. Yuusei eventually left, but not until he was at the end of his rope, hoping that maybe Kiryu would give up on his plan to fight Security if he was the only one going through with it.
This did not deter Kiryu, however, and he decided to go along with the plan by himself anyways. When the rest of the team came to save Kiryu from his own undoing, Kiryu called it the "Last Battle of Team Satisfaction." After many arguments and Yuusei throwing himself at Kiryu as he almost murders a Security Officer (a big no-no,) Jack and Crow hold Kiryu in a room in a separate building while Yuusei went out himself, about to say that he was the leader of Team Satisfaction. But before Yuusei could completely do this, Security found and detained Kiryu, throwing him in the police caravan and taking him away, but not with Kiryu seeing a Security officer clap Yuusei on the shoulder, thus bringing Kiryu to think that Yuuesi had "ratted him out." Yuusei has felt guilt for that day ever since.
Moving one or two years later, the team has split up, Crow living near the incomplete Daedalus Bridge and taking in stray children similar to Martha, Jack going off on his own due to petty differences, and Yuusei picking up a home with Nerve, Taka, Blitz, and a young thief boy by the name of Rally Dawsom (who also bears a criminal marker.) Yuusei, from this time to when he was sixteen, built a D-Wheel (a motorcycle which functions as both a form of transportation and an apparatus to duel on-hence the whole “card games on motorcycles” aspect of it all.) He also developed his skills in hand-to-hand combat, engineering, mechanics, and motorcycle riding. It is around this time that he also obtains Stardust Dragon (his ace monster throughout the series, Junk Warrior being his second.) Jack and Yuusei have one significant falling out in which Jack tells Yuusei that all he needs to win is what is in his heart (but he only points to his chest, and Yuusei surprisingly enough for how smart he is, does not seem to understand--Good going protagonist with a supposedly high IQ.) On the day he was to do a test run, Jack pulled a plot to betray him due to an offer made to him by Jaegar--Godwin's right hand man of sorts. After a fiasco involving giving up his Stardust Dragon card and his newly-made D-Wheel and saving poor Rally from drowning at sea, Yuusei vowed to get his card and D-Wheel back no matter what.
Yuusei eventually finishes building another D-Wheel, the one he ends up using throughout the rest of the series, at the age of eighteen. With the help of Rally (who snatches a rather expensive computer chip to place inside of the D-Wheel, though this is not intentional on Yuusei’s part), Yuusei's machine is finally complete. However, due to the tracker within the Criminal mark, Security immediately reaches their hideout/home and threatens to arrest Rally. Yuusei jams the tracker on Rally's face (with his MAD HACKS skills) and decides to become the decoy, setting off on his newly finished motorcycle for its very first test run--a race against Security, a much bigger entity than himself. Yuusei eventually is cornered by Ushio, a head Security officer of the Satellite B.A.D. (Barbaric Area after Damage). Yuusei challenges him to a duel, saying that if Ushio loses, he must let Rally and Yuusei go free, but if Yuusei loses, he will be allowed to take them in. Ever prideful, Ushio accepts and the duel commences, only to have Yuusei as the victor with his clever maneuvering and trust in his deck, as most Yu-Gi-Oh! characters have. Ushio leaves Yuusei and Rally, but swears that the next time he sees Yuusei, he will crush him.
Of course, this isn't a very long time. After finishing up the final touches of his plan, Yuusei decides that on the night of maintenance in the trash pipeline that goes from the Satellite to Neo Domino City, he will escape. The chute is a long, tubular tunnel, perfect for riding to freedom in. However, Ushio encounters Yuusei on the night of his escape and forces him into a Riding Duel. The chute is just about to reopen and allow in a flood of trash when Yuusei beats Ushio into the ground and dodges numerous piles of trash to escape into the fresh air of Neo Domino City. It is there that he sees Jack after the past two years, riding a brand new D-Wheel, saying that the other was completely trashed so he threw it away. He baits Yuusei, angering him even more until finally he tosses back the ever-so familiar Stardust Dragon card, saying he can take it.
Yuusei, however, throws the card back at Jack, saying that he will prove to him that he can get it on his own and that he has developed as a duelist. During the tense duel where both teeter on the edges of winning and losing, both have their ace dragons out on the field, (Red Daemon's for Jack and Stardust Dragon for Yuusei who played a succession of cards to bring it from Jack's field to his own) a strange phenomenon occurs, bringing out the sacred Crimson Dragon (unknown to the both of them at the time) due to the power between the two dragons. Thus, the duel between Yuusei and Jack grinds to a halt--the light from the display created by the summoning of the Crimson Dragon by the two "Signers" (those who bear the mark of the Crimson Dragon--Jack bearing the wings and Yuusei bearing the tail) attracts the attention of Security, who take Yuusei away, try him rather unfairly due to their bias against people from The Satellite, and mark him by carving the shape of the criminal marker into his face.
Yuusei then is thrown into The Facility where he meets an old traveler by the name of Yanagi. Yuusei at first is rather distant with those around him, until Yanagi and Himuro duel. When Himuro calls Yanagi's cards worthless, Yuusei steps in. Although his deck was taken from him from the start, he uses Yanagi's smuggled cards and duels Himuro, beating him with a series of genius moves that impress him enough to make him become said ally. However, it isn't long before Yuusei is brought in by Takasu (the warden) for "testing" under orders by Director Godwin (who witnessed the summoning of the Crimson Dragon) during the duel between Yuusei and Jack. Yuusei is thrown into a different part of the Facility and brought in for testing (which from what we see is him being put into a machine and promptly electrocuted, possibly to see if the stress might bring about the same reaction as the duel with Jack.) Because Yuusei does not have a constant marker, like Jack (who has had his Signer Mark since he was young) Takasu takes him and tosses him back into his cell.
After a somewhat short stint in the stricter part of the facility, involving a escape plan by Yuusei's new cellmate, Aoyama, Yanagi and Himuro being sent to that area as well, and a duel for the rights of the prisoners in that particular area of the Facility against Takasu (using cards gathered from all the inmates), Yuusei is set free by Godwin. Himuro gives Yuusei his ace monster card and tells him to give it to the bartender and to tell him that he wants a glass of milk (as if things weren't sketchy enough in this show) to prove that he is an acquaintance of Himuro, and then afterwards, he is to ask about Saiga. Yuusei goes there, stalked by two men in black suits--who follow him right inside. After drinking his milk, Yuusei leaves, only to be tossed onto a passing D-Wheel owned by a man named Saiga. Saiga notes that Yuusei is being stalked and jams the signal emitted from Yuusei's marker, throwing the stalkers off track and taking him to his place.
Saiga then helps Yuusei obtain his confiscated deck and D-Wheel again by having him go under an alias and sneak into the warehouse as an electrician. There, he manages to find the crate where is D-Wheel is--but is confronted by Ushio, who ensnares him in another duel. Yuusei bursts out of the crate and away they go, Yuusei barely making a clean getaway thanks to Saiga, but runs into more trouble when a group of Security officers tasers him. He ends up crashing into the side of a Tops building after his escape and is rendered unconscious. He is found by Ruka and Rua, a pair of twins living in the Tops apartment Yuusei crashed into the side of.
After bringing him in and putting him up on their couch for the night (how they did that, I'll never know, and getting his D-Wheel in probably wasn't that easy either considering how massive it is and adding in the fact that they are ten-year-old kids) Yuusei wakes up and decides that it's too much trouble for him to stay, since he is marked and therefore still considered a criminal despite his release. However, Rua manages to convince Yuusei to duel him, if only for practice. Yuusei agrees, reminded of Rally back in The Satellite, and playfully wipes the floor with Rua. After this, he spends his last night with the twins fixing up their old duel disks and leaving them rather silently without any goodbyes. It is at this point where Jaegar (Godwin's right hand man, yes) tells Yuusei that he must participate in The Fortune Cup (where the person who defeats Jack Atlas will become the new king of Riding Duels) because Blister, Nerve, Taka, and Rally have been captured as hostages. Yuusei angrily agrees to it, only in it to save his friends and to get Stardust Dragon back.
Yuusei goes through the numerous tiers of The Fortune Cup where he fights Enjou Mukurou (who runs a flaming Hell skull deck, I don't even know. Maybe it's modeled after Harley's Angels?), Bommer (a man from a small village, presumably in Peru who fights with a WWII airplane deck), and Aki Izayoi (a psychic duelist who can manifest cards into reality and runs a botanical deck full of thorns and roses and her Ace Monster, Black Rose Dragon. She too is a Signer and bears the mark of the dragon's claw on her arm.) After defeating all of these people, Yuusei duels Jack and the similar reaction of the Crimson Dragon appearing happens again, only this time, all of the Signers presently known (Yuusei, Jack, Aki, and Ruka--though her Signer aspects are not focused on until a bit later) are transported to a strange place where Jack and Yuusei are driving on a beam of light and Ruka and Aki are floating above them. Beneath the duel on the path, is the destruction of Yuusei's home, The Satellite, set aflame with the shape of a giant spider atop it.
After a brief discussion of this strange image, Yuusei and Jack continue their duel, Jack saying that it is the only way to get out of this strange dimension. Yuusei wins the duel with yet another genius combination and becomes the new king of Riding Duels. Jack is sent to the hospital (for a brutal wipe out-that's what happens when you fight on motorcycles, I guess) and Yuusei runs away with Jin Himura, Yanagi (both of which who managed to come to The Fortune Cup,) Ruka, and Rua to escape the onslaught of paparazzi. They hide out with Saiga for a while, but the peace does not last. Yuusei encounters his first "Dark Signer" though he is a dud of a Dark Signer, merely a puppet. Yuusei duels and beats him, realizing that these new, dark duels are more real than one could even begin to imagine.
Security ends up coming to the scene of the Dark Signer duel to investigate the shockingly real damage done, and Yuusei is told that Godwin wants to see him. He goes with Ushio and there Godwin tells Yuusei about the Signers and Dark Signers and the Crimson Dragon. For 5,000 years the Signers and Dark Signers have been battling one another over and over again for power. Satellite is the doorway to the Underworld where the dark spirits of the Nazca lines are kept, and Yuusei realizes that Godwin is willing to sacrifice the residents of Satellite to keep Neo Domino safe. Yuusei and Godwin eventually come to a tense agreement to allow a helicopter to send Yuusei and his D-Wheel to Satellite.
There, he reunites with his long-time friend Crow from Team Satisfaction, reunites with his once-hostage friends Taka, Blitz, Nerve, and Rally, and meets up with Kiryu, now dead and now a Dark Signer, keeper of the Earthbound God, Ccapac Apu (pronounced as "cocoa-pack-a-poo.") Dueling him is no sprightly drive down memory lane, and in the end, Yuusei is frightened to death of the ever-so-read Ccapac Apu, whose hand reaches down to grab and crush him just as his D-Wheel gives out and falls to pieces. Yuusei is impaled violently in the stomach with some shrapnel from his bike and the duel ends suddenly, Kiryu snickering and leaving the injured Yuusei lying there. Crow takes Yuusei to see Martha and a doctor, Dr. Schmitt, who operates on Yuusei, sans-anesthesia, and removes the shard as well as the little pieces from his body.
Yuusei and the gang are finally reunited in episode 42 where the truth of the Dark Signers and Signers is thoroughly completed for everyone. Then, they are all sent back on another helicopter to The Satellite (yes, again) where they all meet with Martha. Here, they discuss their plans to fight the Dark Signers, only to be rudely interrupted by a house visit from Rudger, keeper of Earthbound god Uru, the spider. After frantic dueling and Yuusei’s own fear of the Earthbound Gods continuing to roil in his mind, Rally and Martha are both taken as souls to feed Uru in the fray. It is right at the end where Yuusei, Aki, Jack, Ruka, and Rua are confronted by the Dark Signers, and Kiryu laughs at Yuusei's fear of the Earthbound Gods and just how real they are. Leaving them with the cryptic message telling them to go to the four corners, they leave the Signers a puzzled, mentally stunned mess.
After all of this occurs, the Signers and Ushio, Rua, Mikage, and the surviving children of the orphanage, all head inside to discuss their future plans. Explaining to them that there are four reactor towers named appropriately, Ccapac Apu (The Astronaut), Ccarahuya (The Lizard), Aslla Piscu (The Hummingbird), Cusillu (The Monkey), she says that they must go there to find their respective Dark Signer opponents. Each goes off on their separate path, but Yuusei mentions that they are all going to be together in the end, no matter how far apart they might be in reality-their marks are their bonds and what ended up bringing them all together in the first place.
Being the ever present hero that he is, Yuusei witnesses two duels against Dark Signers, Ruka and Rua against Demak and Crow against Bommer. After all of these duels, Yuusei finally goes off to meet Kiryu at the reactor for The Astronaut. The duel is long and hard and in the end, Yuusei pulls together the marks from each of his friends, and a mark appears on his back in the shape of the Crimson Dragon, to summon Savior Star Dragon in order to defeat Kiryu. When all is said and done and the cards and put away, Yuusei ends up with Kiryu in his arms, reconciling with him for the one day way back when they were in Team Satisfaction. With the forgiveness of Kiryu easing his heart, but the bitterness of losing a friend replacing that fear, Yuusei cries for his fallen friend and vows to bring him back by defeating the Dark Signers wholly.
With that, he heads to the main reactor. Uru… The Spider, where Rudger Godwin waits for him. Within the tense duel taking place right over the roiling vat of Momentum, Yuusei hears the first-hand story of his father and the M.I.D.S. project. With faith in his deck and a calmer vengeance in his heart and the will to save the people of the City and The Satellite, he wins the duel, but not before Rudger creates a massive explosion that sends Yuusei tumbling down into the rainbow Momentum screaming for his life and trying to reach out to grab something, anything before he is engulfed in the strange substance of pure energy.
The pit of Momentum takes him to a very strange place, leaving Yuusei puzzled, frightened, and victim to the attacks of all the people who died from Zero Reverse. Just as they are closing in on him, Yuusei sees the glowing shape of his father, who floats down from above in a barely-visible golden hue, telling the dead to leave Yuusei alone and depart, which they do quite willingly. After all of this occurs, Yuusei and the others who accompanied him to the final reactor, namely Ushio, Ruka, Rua, and Crow, they head to Aki’s tower where she is dueling with Misty, who bears the mark of the Lizard.
However, a horrible turn of events takes place. As the sun sets, the geoglyph of the Condor appears in the sky, meaning that the Signers have failed their task of defeating each Dark Signer in time. Wiraqocha Rasca is the final glyph, and this time, it is a three-way duel between Rex Godwin-who is both Signer and Dark Signer thanks to the use of his brother’s arm and his own possession by the condor god. Taking him on, Yuusei, Jack, and Crow duel against Godwin on a geoglyph suspended in the sky. With Godwin picking off his friends, first Crow, then Jack, Yuusei is left with one life point. With a surge of strength and the desire to save his home and his friends and the need to convince Godwin of the error of his ways, Yuusei pulls their marks together-and something odd happens. Yuusei’s tail mark transfers to Crow, who is lying on the path of light, and Godwin’s mark of the Crimson Dragon’s head transfers to Yuusei showing the true and final Signers.
Using Savior Star Dragon, Yuusei defeats Rex Godwin, and in turn for saving the world and sealing up the King of the Underworld, the Crimson Dragon gives Savior Star Dragon a physical form and saves the falling Signers as the path of light formed by Godwin disappears and leaves them plummeting to the ground. The Satellite, albeit in ruins, has its people restored to its streets. Said people as well as the people fully aware of the strange incidents going on in both Neo Domino and Satellite, had their memories wiped so that the Signers remained a hidden entity and the Earthbound Gods were but a not-so-fond nightmare in the backs of their minds.
A good half-year later after the duel with Rex Godwin, the new Daedalus Bridge is built and Neo Domino City and The Satellite are one again, leaving Yuusei, Jack, and Crow with nothing left to do but prep for the WRGP for the following year. A little fun never hurt anyone.
DIFFERENCES: N/A, he's all canon all the time, bro.
THE DETAILS
STRENGTHS/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Combat - Yuusei is relatively well-versed in the area of hand-to-hand street fighting. Growing up in the slums of Satellite has brought on the need to protect himself from street gangs and the like. He can take care of himself well enough when it comes to people who are of smaller to only marginally bigger size. Anyone grotesquely larger than he is would probably be able to slam him into the pavement. He can put up a decent fight with Jack (decent meaning that the only reason he can land a punch is because Jack's all about brute force) who's much taller than he is, but that's probably only because he's known him for ages.
Self-Sufficient - Yuusei doesn't need anyone to take care of him. He can do that for himself. While, yes, like most Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonists, he needs NAKAMA, when it comes to surviving out on his own in the wilderness, though the setting is unfamiliar, he knows how to set his priorities straight: water, food, shelter. He can forage for his own materials (and it's probably even easier in nature where food grows versus a junkyard where there are only car parts and scrap metal.) Yuusei is willing to take in anyone who needs to be taken in, even if he barely as the means to get by himself. He's also pretty handy it when it comes to building new and innovative creations, so he'll probably end up being able to live in a pretty comfortable niche.
Handy-Man - As mentioned before, Yuusei is pretty handy when it comes to building things. He's specifically well-versed in mechanics of all sorts, particularly motorcycles and computers. He's got a fantastic grip on physics and mathematics in general, all of which he's apparently taught himself through books and time alone as a child, not to mention he is the son of a brilliant scientist who created pretty much a perpetually generated source of energy. He had to have gained some nerdiness in the birth canal. He's a hack and he's not afraid to show it--having been able to break into the main frame of the police's security system, as well as countless other databases belonging to Neo Domino City.
Strategist - As the King of Riding Duel, Yuusei is clearly in the highest of ranks when it comes to dueling on motorcycles, and Standing Duels just as well. He is able to call an opponent's moves after dueling with them for a bit, and therefore is able to set up the perfect defense and offense in order to take down whoever needs to be taken down. He knows when to strike and when to stay low, and even when the situation looks hopeless, Yuusei never stops believing in his deck, always saying that there is some way to defeat his opponent, even when the odds are against him.
LIMITATIONS: Self-Sacrificing - Yuusei has displayed many times his willingness to fight his own battles and then even the battles of his friends. If he had it his way, all the problems belonging to his family and friends, all the guilt and sins, would be thrust upon his shoulders. He was willing to save Rally instead of staying and dueling Jack for his card and D-Wheel, he was also willing to go through a duel of darkness with Kiryu twice over to save him from the fate of being a Dark Signer, even after having been severely injured during their first encounter, and thus left emotionally and physically scarred. Yuusei makes friends easily, and once you've gotten yourself some of his trust, you've pretty much got a friend who will stick with you until the end.
Workaholic - Yuusei has been known to work himself to the bone, day and night and night and day sans eating and sleeping for all we know or see in actual canon. He's got outstanding endurance and patience, and when it comes to his machines, Yuusei is a genuine perfectionist. He won't stop until every glitch is fixed, every screw is tightened, and each rev from his motorcycle sounds like the fierce roar of a lion. The only reason this might be a limitation is because Yuusei just might forget to eat. Or pee. Or sleep.
Reckless - When it comes to his friends being in danger, Yuusei isn't one to hesitate. He will jump into action if necessary, be it with his Duel Disk or with his fists and feet. He isn't afraid to fight back in the name of his friends, and would sooner throw himself in the way of the bullet than let a friend take it. When danger arises, Yuusei adopts a fiercer face than before, constantly thinking and always on his toes. Give Yuusei a motorcycle, and things will get even dicier--it's a risky game he plays, particularly when Auto Pilot is off and he has to focus on both dueling and riding his D-Wheel, but he's willing to take all those chances and risks to save his loved ones.
EQUIPMENT/PETS: Yuusei will arrive with solely the clothes on his back as well as his duel disk (because everyone carries those around in his world no matter what), two decks (one for Riding Duels and one for Standing Duels), as well as his deck holders on the back of his belt. Yuusei usually travels light, but you might find the occasional wrench tucked inside his jacket and a couple of other lightweight tools (not that they'll be of much use other than to take apart his Duel Disk over and over and over again for his own amusement.)
THE WRITING
SAMPLE - LOGS: The cenote was, without a doubt, an unpleasant surprise, having dangled the possible hope of sunlight and fresh air right over his head. After wandering about for a while, feeling the slightly dank walls against his glove, his eyes growing steadily used to the faint glow coming from the walls, he's finally managed to bring himself Topside, and he winces. The sun is bright, to the point where it hurts. He rubs the back of his head slowly, getting to his feet after having clambered out of the caves in his curiosity, beginning to walk about on the soft, growing grass beneath his feet.
It's nothing like the parks in Neo Domino City--it's verdant, flourishing, alive. He's a bit stunned by all the vegetation, but finds himself somewhat at peace with it, rather content with just wandering around. He hadn't wanted to stay in those caves for longer than needed, but something inside keeps telling him that he'll have to go back down eventually, particularly the voices coming from those odd pools lining the halls at times, cascades of silver liquid running down and sending out a chorus of voices through the caverns. There were people down there, no doubt. There were signs of the place having been lived in all around.
The forest surrounding him is alive with sound, rustling, moving with the occasional breeze that flows through the leaves of the trees. It's certainly a new surrounding for him, so used to the cityscape, buildings reaching up towards the skies and the somewhat impure smell of the air with it's car fumes. The people calling from either side of the streets and the advertisements shouting out from radios and screens everywhere. Here it's just quiet. As if technology had never touched this place, not even with its little finger.
After a bit of walking, Yuusei finds himself standing at a rather large oasis, the water lapping at the boundaries. He crouches down by it, taking off his gloves and dipping his hands in to feel the cool water over his fingers. This has to be a dream, all of this, the caves included. It seems so surreal. With a splash, he washes the crisp water over his face, but can't help himself from wiping it all away and looking at the green life surrounding him. Sitting himself down from the crouch he feels the lush grass beneath his bare palms. A place as peaceful and completely unsettled as this has to be some kind of dream.

Stopping, the shifting of boots and the soft flicking of a pebble into the liquid.] I've been able to hear things coming from it, wonder if anyone can hear me too. [Another flicking sound as the pebble lands into the mercury with a soft "plunk!" sound followed by a slight hiss in pain.] This place is making my mark act up... wonder if the other Signers can feel it too. Wonder if they're even here.
[He gives a long pause, something like an annoyed breath is let out before he speaks again.] Oi, Jack! Crow! If you're here I'm... [He pauses and looks around.] I don't even know where... [He trails off and might be going back to flicking stones into the mercury, somewhat amused by how the liquid seems to burble differently than when you throw pebbles into water. It's thick, somewhat viscous, but swift, and there are light murmurings coming from it, but barely.]
If there's anyone out there, I need to know where I am and how I can get back home. The WRGP isn't exactly going to wait for anyone and the bikes are far from being done... [A sigh.] Maybe someone will answer... [A final "plunk" sound is heard as he drops one more stone.] Maybe not.
TL;DR - NAKAMA NAKAMA NAKAMA WITH SOME KIZUNA THROWN IN.
