1 month update

Testosterone is not the tingly, magical, happy experience I expected it to be. I'm not complaining, just saying this whole ride is a little different than I thought it was going to be ( Read more... )

I would suggest checking out Seb's info on T*
and looking at something like drugstore.com's synopsis

I only know from my own personal experience what's not "good" but that has probably very little bearing on what your experience will/would be.

Hey Zach,

Your first month sounds a lot like mine. I'm nearing my two month point on 100mg./weekly and I still have hot flashes often and trouble sleeping. Hopefully it doesn't last too much longer though. I would have to agree that the whole thing has not happened at all like I expected it too, but I'm still enjoying everything so far.

Looking forward to the photo updates, how's the voice?

I like the weekly better because I don't have that up and down feeling with my levels that I hear some guys talk about. But I never did the biweekly so I can't really compare the two.

I know someone who was doing monthly shots, but he switched to biweekly. I don't really know how it worked out for him, but it just sounds like an awful lot of time inbetween shots to me.

Ryan,

Yeah I totally see that we're having a similar experience *with the exception of your awesome ability to grow burly facial hair*. It's been great to be able to keep up with your journal and website.

My voice hasn't noticably changed... my range has shifted to be a bit lower but my speaking voice remains pretty much the same.

Here's to hoping we can stop having a personal taste of summer in NOVEMBER, and start getting some decent sleep.

Hey Zach, I've been thinking about you! Some of the questions I've wanted to ask you are related to hormones (the others I'll save for phone/email knowwhatImsayin)

Is your testosterone dosage standard, i.e. what most transguys start out on? And then would one assume you'd have *more* or *fewer* hot flashes as a result? How does that work? Are hot flashes caused by a lack of estrogen?

I was kind of excited when I realized that without estro-pumping ovaries in me I could perchance take a lower dose of T should I choose to go that route, but then I read something online that suggested otherwise.

....And what did you do with your HRT stuff - did you just stop taking estrogen/combo the day you got your first T injection, or what?

What, what, what? : ) I have four billion questions. I'm getting a few hot flashes of my own, on my little 1mg pill of estradiol - not too bad though, and only at night. I don't want to up the dose though. If anything, I'd rather introduce an androgen into the mix, and then .... then whatever comes next.

hey, congratulations on your one month mark. i too (although i've only been doing this for a week) have found that T is not entirely what i expected. it's not bad it's just ...different. as you said. i've started to notice a little muscle achey-ness. and pain in my dick from it growing. most trying for me though, is that it's become very hard for me to be present, in my body, during sex. and this is shitty, since my sex drive is high, but then i can't really do it when it comes to someone else touching me. have you experianced anything like this?

I've been having that "hard for me to be present, in my body, during sex" and "can't really do it when it comes to someone else touching me" problem since I can remember. I was stone for a long time but I eventually just got frustrated enough and started recieving...

I would suggest maybe polling the FTM lists here or on strapon.org and seeing if anyone has started to experience this on T*. Somebody might have some good advice. I can spew theory as to the cause of the feeling and the correlation with starting T* but I don't think it's going to help you cope with the feeling.

Hope things get better for you...
