Writer's Block: Your Favorite Series: One Last Go Round

I have two easy answers--that is, the titles came to me in about 5 seconds. One show that got most of one season and should have gone for much longer is Firefly. Great writers and actors with Whedon's interesting take on Our Future In Space. One season really wasn't enough at all. My second choice was a show on Fox that had a 6 show run ( Read more... )

If I could bring back two for one more season they would be Arrested Development (Fox should have given it to NBC who would have known much better how to market it), and Open All Night, a little gem of a show that starred the great Susan Tyrrell with George Dzundza and Sam Whipple - it was waayyy ahead of its time.

As long as your in a cynical mood, how about McCain not knowing how many houses he owns? Don't call anybody else an elitist when you don't know how many houses you own. The Obama campaign picked up on it and ran an ad with McCain saying in an interview with Politico that he would have to check with his people and get back to them with the number of houses he and Cindy own.

The McCain camp responded by raising Rezko affiliation accusations at Obama's purchase of his house, so I had to get on Salon and level the playing field by pointing out that Cindy McCain's father was a convicted felon who received his Budweiser distributorship from the notorious Kemper Marley, who, among other things police suspect of being behind the murder of Don Bolles. I think the McCain camp may want to examine the wisdom of raising the issue of association with convicted felons.

There was a show called "Nowhere Man" - I recall it being on one of the UHF channels, but I'm not sure. Had an interesting premise. This professional photographer has a great life - beautiful devoted wife, big house, etc. - and is having his first major gallery showing. On opening night he gets call about his studio being burgled or burnt down or something (I'm fuzzy on the details). When he returns the gallery is closed and all of his photos have vanished. He goes home and his wife claims she doesn't know him and calls the cops, and he soon finds that all his friends and business associates deny knowing him as well, and his identity has been completely erased. The rest of the season his him investigating why this has happened, and ended with him being told that he was actually a government assassin and the whole photographer thing was just a cover (as I recall), but it left alot of unanswered questions to be addressed in season 2 - which never happened, of course. I wanted some closure, godammit, but I suppose the most ( ... )

Fox never gives shows a chance. Wonderfalls would be another example. How many times did they cancel Arrested Development? And didn't they drop family Guy too? I agree with you completely & wholeheartedly on Firefly. The movie disappointed me, it slapped a band-aid on all of the plot-points and killed whatever characters were leftover. And btw, I had no idea Peter Gabriel did the music to Brimstone... that's awesome..

I agree with Firefly, thank goodness they had that movie, but I would have really loved to have seen what Joss was planning to do with it ( ... )
