Who's up for Hornblower?

Aug 21, 2005 21:38

Though I still can't work out what I did with my Duchess and the Devil DVD, someone out there (in the UK-TV offices) was nice to me.
For the first time in my life, I watched The Examination for Lieutenant from start to finish. *melts in happy goo*

And review time:

Horatio Hornblower and the Examination for Lieutenant - It's THE PLAGUE! STICK A MARINE AT IT )

Have I told you, lately, that I love you?

I have seen this episode! I have! Also, I don't remember Mr Pickwick, but his name and that photo was enough to make me laugh anyway.

Straw hat= love! <3

I love you too ~<3

I have this episode on tape now! *glee* I think after manifest, it's high time I get a job, so I collect them all, like you'd collect pokemon.

I'm not actually sure Pickwick is his name. It could have been 'Taaapling' (because that's what I scrawled on my Jap homework ... I'm such a loser) but that picture defines his personality. I most enjoyed Horatio telling him that if he didn't get off his fat arse he would get no food and die. Except it was worded in only a way that Horatio could.

"Sir, I would hate to be the bearer of terrible news, but if you don't contribute, we will be unable to provide you with nourishment in return. Please, please, please don't be offended by this and sit on me and squash me flat!"?

Actually more
Pickwick: I am NOT going on the deck to talk to the Muslims because my body hurts and I can't move and I'm going to die *shoves food in mouth*
Horatio: Oh. Then we shouldn't waste rations on you *takes food from him*
Pickwick: You'd let a sick man STARVE?!
Horatio: No, I consider it my duty to aid your death along as quickly as possible.

Very snarky of him. He was stressed because no one would let him study.

Not the best of all the Hornblower series, but awesome nonetheless. >;3

No, but Spain siding with the french means that they're at war with the brittish, which means that they will soon capture Archie and make him sad. However they will capture Horatio to make Archie happy again.
The episode is very important for plot development...and lots of pouty horatio.

Screencaps and running commentary are always my prefered source of information.
(I mean, if you're going to rave about Horatio's pouty face, you need pictures of it so everyone can join in.)

You should watch it again. From episode one right through to Retribution. It's the best form of procrastination there is.

No one! Men in uniform is love. <3 You need to find some hornblower. Preferably hornblower that has Archie (ie, NOT this episode) Or start from the beginning. Or find the books, but they don't have Ioan. *sigh*

of course I don't mind. *loves on you*
