"Hey Kevin, can you do me a favor?" Scotty said one morning, looking up from his list he was preparing for work.
"Yeah, of course. Is everything okay?"
"Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, of course. I just. . .I really want you to see The Little Mermaid."
"That's it? Why?"
"I loved that movie growing up. And I want to watch it with our child. But I guess, I just want you to see it before our child does."
"Yeah, of course I'll do it. Just don't tell my family."
"Why? Does the fact that you're watching that movie at almost 40 seem too gay for you?"
A smile played on Scotty's lips.
"Something like that," Kevin said with a small laugh.
"Even if I say nothing, they'll still find out. You know that, right?"
"They have this place bugged don't they?"
"I think you all have everyone else bugged."
"We probably do. And a Batman signal."
"Everything but a 'Do Not Disturb' sign."
"No. Our's reads: Do Not Leave Well Enough Alone."
"Very true."
"So, I'm assuming you have the movie on you?"
"Guilty," Scotty said, holding up the newly purchased movie.
"Okay, okay, let's watch it."
Kevin sat down on the couch as Scotty put the movie in the DVD player.
When the DVD menu popped up, Scotty said, "You have to get comfortable so you can best enjoy the movie."
Kevin laid his head on Scotty's shoulder and Scotty draped his arm around him.
"Okay, ready?"
"Yes."
Scotty hit "play".
"So what did you think?" Scotty asked when the movie ended.
"Sebastian is a crab, not a lobster."
"What?"
"When we had dinner that one time, um, when I cheated on Jason, you said the reason you brought home lobster was because the little kids couldn't stand to eat Sebastian. Sebastian isn't a lobster."
Scotty dropped his head in embarrassment.
"Geez Scotty, you're a chef. Don't you think you should know your seafood?"
Scotty looked up to glare at Kevin before beginning to tickle him.
"Stop! Stop!" Kevin said between laughs and pants.
"Nope. You pick on me, I pick on you," Scotty said, laughing himself.
"Uncle! Uncle!"
"Nope. We stop when I say so."
"No! Saul! Doorway!"
Scotty paused his tickling to turn to the doorway where he saw Saul.
"Saul, did you know? Is everything okay?" Scotty said.
"Sorry, I could hear you two from the hallway, so I assumed you couldn't hear me knock.
Kevin and Scotty both flushed.
"I'm sorry for interrupting. But I needed someone to talk to."
"You're fine. Sit down Saul," Kevin said, motioning to the chair.
Saul picked up the pillow and looked at Kevin quizzically.
"That's Liza," Kevin said as means of explanation, accepting the pillow from his uncle and placing it on the sofa. "So what's up?"
"You two are happy, right?"
"Yes," Kevin said as he looked at Scotty and interlocked their fingers.
"How have you made it work?"
"We love each other," Scotty said. "We try not to keep secrets. Even if we do, everything finds a way of coming out."
"And, we have our arguments, but we always find a way to understand the other person's side."
"Plus, there's something that keeps bringing us back together. Like, in the beginning, our relationship was so checkered. But, we could never separate ourselves. No matter how mad we got, no matter how determined we were to end things, we always got back together."
"So who's the lucky man Uncle Saul?"
"No one, I just. . .want to be able to have a relationship, and I don't know if I know how to."
"It's Milo, isn't it?" Scotty asked.
"You're becoming one of them," Saul said with a laugh.
"One of whom?"
"A Walker."
"Oh, I think I became one of those the day I asked Kevin out after he stood me up to hang out with Nora."
"You will not let me live that down, will you?"
"Nora told me that you two broke up," Saul teased.
"This family talks way too much."
"Says the guy who spills most of the family secrets," Scotty teased.
"Oh and where are your stats for that?"
"Deep research in talking with your family."
"Give it time and you'll be spreading them too."
Scotty only smiled in disagreement.
"Saul, I think you will find someone to be happy with. I never thought I'd get married. I didn't think I was capable of staying faithful to one man. But now look at me. I am very much in love with Scotty."
As if to prove his point, Kevin kissed the back of Scotty's hand.
"It's never too late Saul. That's what I've learned."
"Thanks boys."
"Are you going to go talk with Milo?" Scotty said.
"I don't know."
"You should. Tell him how you feel. Be honest with what you want. But also be open to having your wants change. I always thought I'd get married. But when Kevin and I patched things up for the last time, I knew I'd be happier living with him and not being married than being married to any other man."
