Amy had meant to call Kara about a dozen times during the week, but everytime she placed her hand on the phone to call, it rang instead. The plumber finishing the pipes, the landscaper winterizing the plants, the banker telling her that everything was in order, even her Dad to congratulate her on her home. It seemed that everything was happening ( Read more... )

Kara calls mid morning and as soon as Amy answers she says:

"You better have the DC on ice and totally waiting for me. Child labour is all well and good, but I expect some compensation for my time and all."

Amy has been painting since she woke up, and has actually made a lot of progress. It is only the one room to be painted after all, and she already has the first coat done. She was about to take a break when the phone rang. Perfect timing!

Amy laughs at the remark about child labor, and is glad that she remembered Warren mention the Diet Coke thing when they went to the zoo.

"You shall be compensated Kara, I have had a twenty-four case in the fridge since Wednesday in preperation for your arrival. Plus I have all the paperwork and checking information for the settlement too. Want me to pick you up? Or should I send for a cab?"

Amy didn't mind picking her up, but wanted to make sure that if she was going to get a cab that Amy arranged for it, so the driver didn't get lost on the way in.

"Either, or. Whatever works for you Amy Madison. I've had a bizarre night. Totally bizarre. You never know who'll turn out to be a freaking slayer these days! It's CRAZY!"

Kara is already dressed in old clothes and is ready to go!

"I'll send a cab over then, that way I can keep painting until you get here, then you can fill me in on just how crazy your night was, and just who turned out to be a Slayer okay?"

Since Kara is ready to go, we'll assume that Amy and Kara said their goodbyes, Amy hung up called the cab company gave them directions to her house, hung up the phone again, and resumed painting. The drive over to Amy's house from Angel's is probably about 30 minutes in good traffic, so we'll just say forty-five minutes Amy hears a car in the driveway and sets the roller down in the tray and heads downstairs.

She grabs a few twenties out of her jacket pocket, because Amy isn't really a purse girl at all, and heads out to pay the cab driver and walk with Kara from the cab. Once the driver is paid and heading back out to it's next pick up, Amy smiles at Kara as they head up to the house.

"So just how bad was your night?"
