Last call for people interested in coming along to the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis, scheduled for July 9! I'm leaving the evening of July 7 and coming back the evening of July 10. We can share hotel and rental car costs. I'm finalizing arrangements in the next day or so. There's at least one other person, perhaps three, also coming. This

I wish I could see this. But even if I could afford the journey, there's no way I could get away just now. Hopefully the world will see further space missions in the future...

I've been budgeting for it (both time and money) since a year ago, the way I would rent or bills. :P This is my gift to myself as I was, and as I will be. But we both know that I am very lucky, to be in my situation. Wish I could offer to help.

The "world" isn't going to stop sending people to space, of course. Even the U.S. isn't. We'll be catching lifts to the ISS from the Russians for awhile, but perhaps we'll have our own wings (or whatever) again soon...
