I'm pleasantly sleepy. Before I go to bed, the good points of today were: revising my essay about does-cognition-control-emotion; getting curry with Marc and Kristin; and having the small cat sit on my lap. She's a pleasant cat when she's friendly.

I'm absolutely exhausted today. I've been up at 5am for the last two days and I hardly slept last night.

Good things about today: one of my favourite jobs, in which I get to play employees who meet with their managers. Other good things: I had a curry, which was quite nice, and the artist for Cthulhu Apocalypse drew me a beautiful cover. 

Back to work today. Up at 6, then swanning around in my three-piece suit in a stately-home-turned-conference-centre. Felt useful.

Small cat is on my lap, being friendly in that way that involves digging claws into my leg.

Ate leftover fish tacos. Nice.

Off to the British Library today: it was their last day of a map exhibition. I'm not sure I've been in the British Library before. It was wonderfully tranquil inside, with pleasant staff who smile as they search your bags. (In a good way ( Read more... )

Here's a translation of something I wrote. How does it read? Anything clunky? I've had problems before with translators being too literal. I'm encouraged that he's translated the title, originally "The English Country House", as "Le manoir anglais", since he's clearly picked a phrase that means the same thing, rather than doing word-for-word ( Read more... )
