Miraina Dumont is a foolish woman. Charles Spender is not a foolish man. The ambitious blonde might delude herself into believing that she had him doing her bidding, thanks to her sexual favors, but Spender never let himself be deterred from his goals, especially not for his own personal pleasures. Too many of his contemporaries had their head turned by a beauty with her own motives. Her motives kept her ruthless enough to serve Spender's purpose. For now.
Greed. One of the greatest motivators of all. Nicholas Jacks is greedy, but he also has something more. The man has a grudge. Like the Dumont woman, he has nothing to lose and everything to gain by willingly joining the cause that Spender drafted the disgruntled cousins into. And securing Jacks out of his Texas abode, placing him in a hotel room with the sexually depraved cousin who fed his ego, was a stroke of masterful manipulation that would take him one step closer to the goal.
The goal? He lit a cigarette and studied the video feed from the closed circuit camera recording the trysting cousins. The goal was very simple. The Jacks woman had three pieces of Consortium technology that had the potential of enormous power in the game. That, in itself, was disturbing to the remaining powers. But the idea of Alexandr Krycek having these powers at his disposal, the intact triad, was more than disquieting. It was unacceptable. Alex is a useful, if unruly, player. Given the power that the three girls would give him, he might become unmanagable, even cocky. Unacceptable.
From a purely scientific standpoint, it was necessary to bring the children back under Consortium control. Experiments needed to be done. Surviving prototypes were rare. From a strategic standpoint, the strength of this technological boon to the Jacks and Krycek "family" was more than could be allowed to flourish.
One pillar must always be falling. Otherwise, the game tilts to their favor.
Unacceptable.
