I have distant cousins who live in Maine that I discovered during the course of my genealogy research. Is it bad of me that I feel like I need to visit them again, just so I can be closer to "Haven" country???
I don't think so, but I may be a bit biased ;) It is a beautiful part of the country, I am particularly attracted to the Portland area. It reminds me of Olympia, WA.
I've never been to the Pacific Northwest, but I understand that it is lovely in that area. My cousins live just BARELY into Maine, in Kittery, but it's still lovely there. Personally, I want to get to Nova Scotia next spring/summer and see Lunenburg for myself. The scenery on the show is just fantastic.
Portland is only 30-40 minutes north of Kittery, a little longer if you take the scenic route along the coast (though well worth it.) You aren't the only one itching to get up to Nova Scotia. That and Newfoundland are on my very sort list. The area is a landscape photographers dream.
