Hana, Maui

That's where my grandma was born and even though they run tours up there constantly it is the least touristy place I've visited in Hawaii. If I can find access to a scanner sometime in the near future I'll try to send you some pics.

My mom also told me that the big island is pretty nice, but I haven't been there myself so I dunno.

Things are ok I guess. Last week was the Kentucky Derby, and we always have a big party. So, that kept me busy ( ... )

A new doggie! That sounds very fun :) And if he needs lovin' then he's definitely in the right place because you've got a ton of love stored up :) Puppy won't know what hit him! I like Cooper... like Mini? Or there's always Austin (like Powers)... :)

And backpacking?! Sounds like an adventure for you, I'm glad you're moving out of your comfort zone a bit and trying new things.

I've always dreamed of going to the Kentucky Derby... but I never really thought normal folk could go! A lot is starting to occur to me these days :)

I don't know when I'm going to Hawaii. Things are a little rough right now. I need a vacation to clear my mind. But I have a lot of debt to pay off too. I'm in debt to get all the stuff it takes to be a photographer... which is what I want. But living at home is emotionally crippling me.
It's a lot to handle, but I'm doing the best I can.

my dad was stationed on Oahu for like 4 years. I went there about three months total during my early teens and it was crazy goddamn expensive...not to mention...it was also pretty much whored out and commercialized. Honolulu is insanely overrated and waikiki beach is the worst beach I have ever been to...imagine about 20 yards (or...meters) of sand and then stagnant ocean (shallow stagnant ocean...just go swimming in a pool)...plus, that short 20 yards is packed with about 30 yards of people ( ... )

I can't swim.

I'm just looking to lay on a beach somewhere... walk among the locals, take some awesome photos, and get some fucking sunshine.

People in Vancouver get seasonal affected disorder because it doesn't snow all winter, and we get rainy patches... but either way we have clouds for months on end. Only in the summer do the clouds go away, and even then it still rains sometimes.

My Mom's gotten a job working as a travel agent so I'm getting some awesome deals. I'm also looking at St Thomas, the British Virgin Islands, Antigua... anywhere pretty and remote :)

But no. I won't be snorkeling or scuba diving. I'm not an "activities" kind of person. Hell... I don't even own a bathing suit that fits!

Anyway... good advice though, thanks!

Yeah, the east coast is like that...with the clouds that roll in during the fall and don't roll out till the summer, but I am sure it is worse further north...oh yeah, and I have heard many a time that the west coast is wetter than a mad hen.

but out west in stupid colorado, that bastard sun is always out. I think they claim that it has about 300 sunny days a year or something.

either way, I just thought that everyone loved snorkeling. And you don't have to swim, you could always get some waterwings... :D

and your mom will be a travel agent eh? Could you get me some sweet deals to england or italy? and I mean in american currency...not that canadian funnymoney.

and have you looked into something with a rainforest? I mean, it would be cool goddamn beans to go through a rainforest...well, until you get malaria or something.

Did you know that the Pacific NorthWest is a rainforest? Most people tend not to believe that, but geographically speaking we are a rainforest. There is no shortage of green out here. I sometimes forget that not everywhere is just stuffed to the brim with so many trees and wildlife.

I love Vancouver. I love that I went for an intense walk around the sea wall yesterday, and there were points where everything behind me was forest, and everything in front of me was ocean. With Otters and Seals, and raccoons... just beautiful.
But when it rains... it rains. Forever.

My parents went to Kauai when I was like, 6. They still talk about it, I'll see if I can get more details on where they stayed and what they did, etc.
