In which I am besotted with mannerist elongation and thus wish I was taller and could pull off a boat hat. Or, y'know:

My (Totally Mini, Doesn't Do Him An Ounce Of Justice) J.C. Leyendecker Appreciation Post

Because such gouache makes me gush. :D (Oh, I went there.) Nah, mate, but seriously...

Cheers, love! :D This man's work is honestly too pretty not to be fawned over at every available opportunity. Expect more art posts such as this, srsly, I am going through a ~phase.

Ooo, this guy~ ¤3¤
I actually first came across his illustrations when I found this large book about him in an art museum's store in Helsinki, and I think I bought it right away even though it was ridicilously expensive (over 30 euros I think) and made me kinda broke. But, just... the pretty. ; 3 ; I couldn't leave it behind. And I don't mind the homoerotism all over the place either. It's like, the women are gorgeous and the men couldn't be less interested. x'D

Oh, and I forgot to say, that's kind of a hilarious story about Rockwell and his fanboy stalking...fffft. I'D

There are some brilliant books on him, seriously, but sometimes it can be hard finding ones which focus on him as an artist as opposed to spending 300 pages speculating on his private life. (But, pfft pfft, they all have pictures ie, they are all amazing to some extent.) So pretty. Also, decidedly homoerotic - I love how in most male/female illustrations, the male's looking away, face poised in an elegant display of wary exasperation.

Rockwell and his fanboy ways are absolutely brilliant. I can just imagine this ruddy-cheeked, starry-eyed boy creeping along back alleys, following this austere little German man as he like, buys oranges and takes leisurely strolls. :D Why are there not films about this, seriously. Pfft.

I'M NOT GONNA LIE: I JUST WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THIS GUY'S WORK. *_______* After Mark recommended him to me I Googled him at home and was flopping all over the place like a deranged/aroused walrus. QUITE A SIGHT, I ASSURE YOU.

HONESTLY. Can't blame you, mate, I honestly get all starry-eyed and floppy around him, too. Basically introduced me to my love of long lines and tailoring, hnnnghh... I wouldn't have thought to post, but I've been categorically devouring all the art books in the house as of late so I'm kind of going a bit mad here.
