DOUBLE ENTENDRES GET LOST IN THE TUNDRA

Jan 29, 2011 22:20

I went on a bit of a friending spree as of late, so if you're one of those people, hi. Hell, even if you're not one of those people: Hi. You are most probably an insanely interesting person and it's starkly apparent to me that it is a lot easier to friend you, than for me to bookmark your journal, sort it into an appropriate bookmark folder lest I ( Read more... )

In no particular order, Ratatouille, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, American Beauty, When Harry Met Sally, and, of course, The Powerpuff Girls Movie. ♥

Today I watched El Orfanato. It was very good.

ETA: Totally forgot Kick-Ass. WTH, self.

Oh, oh, how brilliant. I still haven't seen Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, nor El Orfanato yet but I've been meaning to. I swear, Amélie is supposed to be one of those landmark films everybody needs to watch, but I've been putting it on the backburner for years and honestly still have no idea what it's about. What is it you love about it, if you don't mind me asking?

What I love about Amélie is how utterly whimsical it is! It is like the purest filmic manifestation of whimsy - in script, in spirit, in look, in color, in acting, in music, in story - pretty much every last stitch in that film is bleeding whimsy all over the place. It's like a fairy tale for adults. Audrey Tautou's face is so animated and expressive, too. She was perfectly cast.

Re: El Orfanato, that movie. Man, it contained one of the biggest "OMG QAQ" moments ever for me. Took me by total surprise and was very well done.

Hah. I sense a theme, m'dear. Ace films, though, I agree. It's interesting you picked 'Batman Returns' instead of 'The Dark Knight' like a lot of others I've asked. Is it because of the Tim Burton direction?

I'm probably the only person to say this but I hated The Dark Knight. :/
Batman Returns still remains my favorite Batman movie ever.

Seriously? Oh man, you can't say that without telling why, that's just cruel.

Batman Returns is pretty brilliant, I concede. Michelle Pfeiffer was actually a really decent Catwoman, which surprised me because I'm usually all about Eartha Kitt on that front.
