And now for something experimental...

I'm trying to get back into PT writing mode but having a hard time with ideas. So far, this is the only thing I've really managed to finish.

Title: Pawn Errant
Fandom: Princess Tutu
Pairing: Duck/Fakir
Rating: PG
Genre: angst, dark
A/N: In part inspired by Manda-chan's brilliant Beneath Black Feathers and its role-reversal. I thought I'd try to explore ( Read more... )

Oh thank you--I'm glad that raven!Duck came across as different for you! I was afraid that I just replaced Duck's physical description for Rue's role/personality. It was one of the things that amazed me about Manda-chan's fic, how even though the roles were so different, the characters were still recognizably themselves!

With Kraehe as the Raven's daughter we see a calculating, graceful femme fatale, but with raven!Ahiru I sense she's more of a siren, calling forth Fakir to his own destruction. Deliciously twisted, and as always, I love your way with language and how the words almost seem to work in a rhyme.

Haha you are good--you gave coherence to my own incoherent vision. I didn't really know what I was doing in writing Duck like this, but once you said this--"she's more of a siren, calling forth Fakir to his own destruction"--I thought, oh yes, a sort of evil version of what she does as Princess Tutu in canon, reading people's hearts, guiding them to the right path.

Thanks for this, and also, icon-love.

I was trying to work the character out when I left a ff.net review, but I think this comes a lot closer than anything I thought of. I still wonder what Duck is like though, under there....

I agree--it's part of why I decided to release this into the wild rather than trying to make it longer. I wasn't sure how much further I could delve into raven!Duck

Very creepy, indeed. I think you translated Ahiru over to the 'darker side' pretty well. And after reading just that much, I've already found myself wishing there was more.

And it's odd that only a few short days ago, I attempted to get back into writing BBF, as well as finishing a drawing request for someone of Raven!Fakir and Raven!Ahiru. Kind of ironic.

Haha, part of the problem is I have no idea what to do with the rest of the cast. I mean it looks like I'm leaving Fakir as the knight/writer, with his role as writer revealed earlier, but that means Mythos is still the prince. And what's going on with him if there's no Princess Tutu to return his heart shards? Also, would Rue just be normal girl (perhaps even Fakir's older sister?? is that why he's more vulnerable in this version? because he's had an older sibling looking out for him so he doesn't feel like he's all alone in the world and needs to be tough?)? Haha, so many questions and no answers!

Your own role-reversal fic seems to be much better plotted. I hope one day I get to read more of it :3

I've actually written a Raven!Ahiru fic that I'll post eventually, so I was really eager to see what you did with that idea. Well thought out, and I really like the way the story pieced together. It's interesting how you adapted her personality to fit the raven side, very different from my own version of her. Well-written and chilling.

Oh! I'd be very curious to see what you do with her!

Also, thanks! :)

Finally, I've got back to this to read thoroughly and leave a review. When I skimmed over it before, I was in a rush.

My favorite part is still the description of Raven Ahiru. It's magic and vivid, from her skirt to her flowing hair. And I love how she's clothed in fire colors.

Imagining sweet little Ahiru like this is heartbreaking and chilling, but very intriguing. I wonder if she successfully led Fakir to his doom or if he was saved.

Thanks! I wanted to make her visually different from Kraehe and with her red hair, I wasn't sure if she'd be able to pull of the black swan look Kraehe does anyway.

I don't want Fakir to be led to his doom! I think it's one of the reasons I stopped this where I did, so that there's this implication that he is, but you know, there's also hope that someone will come along and change the direction of the story the Raven wants to bring about...maybe Autor....hmmm....

Oooh! Yes, it should be Autor. X3
