I am happy and relieved that everyone hasn't tidied me off their friendslist in my long absence! I hadn't realised it was quite that long since I last posted - not last October

Assimilation! I sometimes wonder if I would have been happier with archives rather than libraries, but I didn't really know anything about it when I set out, so to speak...
Glad to know you're still fine and ok!
Oh, I'm living in Swinton now! Well, weekends only until at least Christmas as I'm working in Nottingham...
Hello - sorry to be so long getting back to you! Forgot about LJ again and didn't think to check back... You are around in Swinton too? I would be intrigued to know what you make of it. I'm thinking of either libraries or archives at the moment really depending on what kind of job turns up - a library job with special collections could also be quite interesting.
*grin* That's OK! Swinton is funny... mix of very chav and not bad at all... All in all though, I like it, and it's gradually becomming home. :¬) We're up over the Clifton side of the A666... (Love the road when you're telling people how to get to ours!!)
I was divided like that too. Haven't managed to find a job working with Spec Coll though that doesn't seem to involve experience in working with them already! Bah! Be picky about your trainee post I'd say - if you can get somewhere with Spec Coll and get some experience that way, they're more likely to consider you... Oh, and do Manuscript Studies or similar as an option! Am happy cataloguing at the moment myself, but not sure what I'm going to do once this contract finishes... Have to see what comes up over the next few months.
Hello - sorry - forgot to check back again! Yes I do feel that I will be more on the right track working with lots of interesting books - the difficulty would be not to spend the time reading them.
