“I’m still using you.” Buffy lay inside the hammock facing the ocean, with Spike behind her, his arms curled around her waist. “I thought I could stop, that I could be a better person, but I can’t, and I’m not.”
Spike tightened his arms around her briefly, “it’s what I’m here for, luv.”
“It’s not right.”
“I don’t mind.” Spike replied, he leaned up and pushed her hair aside and kissed her neck, right over the chain of the necklace he’d given her last night. It was simple silver, with an iridescent seashell pendent that matched her eyes. Buffy reached her hand up and fingered the shell.
“Next time tell me no.” She continued to gaze out over the waves, crashing against the beach. “Don’t let me use you.”
Spike snuggled back down into the hammock, pulling her closer and whispering, “I could never say no to you.”
They lay together, swinging slightly in the breeze, and let the ocean fill the silence.
