Sling Blade
Now I'm way late in the game for seeing this, to the point that the classic "french fried pertators" line was of course hilarious to me after seen many a spoof. This is a really heart warming story that I thoroughly enjoyed. While I knew from the start that of course Karl would end up killing again, you knew it would be again in an effort to save someone he loved (whether he is right or not). This is one of those movies that I can predict the ending from a mile a way yet am still thoroughly satisfied that my predictions were correct. Lastly, while I'm not a huge fan of Billy Bob Thorton, he really shines in this film - on all levels.

I'm the first one to say Woody Allen is not all that. Don't get me wrong he's a great director but it frustrates me when his more mediocre work gets lauded as masterpieces just because he is who he is. With this in mind, I always go into his movies with a little trepidation. Some I end up loving, others I end up hating... this one I'm glad to say I really loved. The acting was superb, even from Scarlett Johansson who I can often find a bit, wooden and staged. The story was fun, intriguing and even a bit sad at points. This is the sort of drama that I love from Woody Allen.
Let the Right One In
This movie was good, but I'll leave it at that. This is another movie that was so hyped that I expected to fall in love with it... and didn't. I did enjoy it thoroughly and it was a really sweet romantic story, there just wasn't anything new or unexpected from this film to really pull me in. Definitely a good one to see, I just don't expect it to place on my personal top list of must-see films.
