Network
To be honest there wasn't much that drew me into this movie. It's an interesting concept and I enjoyed watching the media spiral down ridiculously. That being said all of the characters are wrapped up in their own self interest and their own bullshit - none of which I care about. The Faye Dunaway/William Holden plot line didn't interest me much and only made me loathe the characters more. An interesting ride but for me not enough.
Candyman
A good popcorn popping, gorey 80's horror but certainly not the best of that bunch. There were a few scares but the story is a bit lame. Enjoyable but nothing to write home about.
Marvin's Room
I really enjoyed Marvin's Room. It's a simple, heartfelt story with interesting quirks and great performances.
All Quiet on the Western Front
It took me a while to sink into this one. At first, it's hard to find a character I really cared about. Once Paul came forward in the story, caring for his dying friend, I was pulled in. It's a sad and compelling story about the tragedies that war brings upon us.
Persepolis
Persepolis is quirky, funny and heartfelt. The animation is superb as well and really captures the entire tone. The history of Iran in the past 40 years wasn't something I was well versed in but Persepolis does a wonderful job of bringing forward the story of Iran through a personal and interesting story.
