CitiBank vs Software troubleshooting techniques.
I keep having this problem where I try to buy gas by using my CitiBank ATM/debit card at the terminal on the pump, and the card is not even recognized as something to try and read. Not even an error. Its like the card is invisible to the terminal at the pump.
Ok, bad reader, next pump. Uh. Hello pump. I'm a card, can you see me? Shit.
I go inside. Card works fine. I get gas. I call my bank. The first rep says she has heard of other card problems like this, she'll connect me with the ATM/debit department. When he answered, we got disconnected as he was introducing thimself. I call back and get a new rep. The rep I speak with this time is confused because there aren't any blocks on my account or card, and they don't seem to know of anyone else having problems like this. They'll send me a replacement card.
Please don't turn off my old card until I use my new one, because it still works if I go inside to the attendant. She tells me not to worry, it will happen automatically when I use the new card.
New card arrives. I need gas, so I go to the gas station. A different station. New card is invisible. I go inside. I can buy gas. I call my bank again, to tell them that replacing the card didn't work, and that they have a little bit of investigating to do, but you know how lazy CitiBank employees are? I'm finding out. And they don't think that thier cards could possibly be low quality. Today, the first rep, Veronica tells me that another customer had the same problem at a gas station today (works inside but not at the pump). She gets the ATM/debit card department to talk to me, and the guy denies any sort of problem of the sort I'm having, suggesting that I'm putting the card in wrong (no, I tried it the wrong way too, and that didn't work either) or that I've demagnetized it (no, it still works inside the store) or that the pump's terminal is broken (no, I've also tried a different card, which works fine).
He still doesn't get it. Defective card manufacture.
Can anyone think of another reason why my CitiBank card doesn't work? I need a good one, otherwise I have to change banks, for being fucking lying bastards, and getting caught at it.
