Ok, so Harry Potter is cool and all, but I'm still amazed at how anxious people are to get the new book. I think J.K. Rowling must be laughing her ass off right about now. Like me ( Read more... )

Though I did pre-order it...

I've shocked 2 people so far by *gasp* not reading it yet! Oh, no! I wanted to finish Interesting Times first. ^_^ And, while I'm looking forward to the Harry Potter book? It's not the end of the world. I have the book, and it is of yet, unread. Oh. Darn.

I like you too. You can point and laugh at people. Including yourself. And that takes talent!

When a little girl looks you in the eye and says, "Daddy...I love you...PLEEEEAAAAASE can we go to the Harry Potter party at boders and buy the new book on opening night!" it's hard to say no.

Not impossible.

But..she did get straight A's...perfect attendence...awards for band and student government and high praise from her violin teacher for all her hard work this year....

And then...her brother has been reading like a demon to finish them all for the end of the week when she'd be done with the book, so he could read it next...and worse still, his grades are as good as hers, his attendance as good as hers and he gets a trophy for leadership..

I am sorry..but...when you have kids working as hard as that..you want to do things like buy them the harry potter book on opening night...

Still, you're absolutely right...it is crazy.

I have never wanted a book that bad that I would go to something like that, and I read a lot. basically, I'm a lemming for my children.

And I can accept your scorn...you're absolutely positively right.

When children are involved, one has every right to do what is necessary - even buying the book on opening night. Being a lemming for your children is noble...

I bow to you!

Hmm I tried to post a comment and it didn't work... missyberg June 23 2003, 12:22:34 UTC
It makes me feel disappointed...

Any way what I said was....people who are booklovers actually get into a story sometimes so much the characters become as real as humans they love in thier lives. It's hard not to want to see what happens. Gee it's kinda like LJ. Kinda like going and seeing a good sequel....you just can't wait...

I cried at the end of some Hinlein books because the pictures in my mind were more real and dear to me than life...

>>At least people are reading something other than news though.
Yeah some people are reading livejournal.

:)

Miss ya!

just reading "between planets" right now...it's awfully good. Not the first time I've read it..but it's been more than a decade..maybe 2.

Anyways...Heinlein rocks, baby.
