I've been trying not to post political entries but there's one thing I must say. If Davis is recalled, I hope everyone will have done the right thing, and voted for Cruz Bustamante to replace him. He is the Lieutenant Governor after all, and part of his job is to replace Davis should he be unable to perform his duties as Governor. The very idea ( Read more... )

Would seem pointless to put in the same party that created the disaster.

To clarify however, I can totally respect where your coming from there. In my mind, the california system makes no sense. Never has. It doesn't work that way in my state, it works more like what you're saying.

Hold up a second....what party was Enron? I'd bet everyone running that company was Republican. Oh, and same goes for all of the other executives of all of the other scam artist energy companies. They're the ones that created the mess. They ripped off everyone including California.

Enron was not a party thing...you'd lose your bet. ;)

And california's energy problems had almost nothing to do with 'scams' and almost everything to do with california government trying to use price controls. When usage and cost are disconnected, then costs go out of control. It was pretty much that simple. And since california tried to force energy companies to take the cost and risk, the companies tried to find ways to make money..as is their fiduciary responsibility.

Still...while I don't really agree with a lot of assumptions, I think your basically right on main issue...californian democrats should have forced him to step down and let Bustamante step up, instead of pushing almost half of all democrats and 80% of republicans to team up and force his removal.

Regardless who is in office after tomorrow, the removal of davis is a good thing for the state.

I applaud california voters forcing accountability.

i'm just going to give a healthy nod in the direction of "damn this recall is a scary thing and oh it's so frightening how much of a spectacle this whole mess is and hey, what's so great about booting someone from office if their replacement has been elected by significantly less than the majority anyways?" um... and i won't ever go near that whole "Gubernator" thing. I'm all for circus but this makes me sick.

I am not convinced that the recall will fix anything, nor do i think that that was the agenda of those who proposed it.

Are you registered to vote? Go vote no. I'm going to.

YES OF COURSE I'M REGISTERED TO VOTE
and of course i'm voting no.

i think it's an issue of "DUH" and although i'm sure an opposing legit view can be had and found, there is really something broader, more horrible/ridiculous at stake. i've been unfortunate enough to be an ear to a lot of stupidity relating to this issue lately. most of it is in teh form of televised "news" type stuff. it's having a bad psychological impact on me. the kind that makes me want to skip the country. that kind of "there is no real communication and people are jsut kind of going to keep fighting and killing each other" related sad. it's all broken and i'm voting anyway.

I'm with you on that all the way.

I'm sure redhawke would have pages and pages to say about why the recall would be good for California since he's very well studied in politics.
