Evie had gotten permission to travel. This was just something she had wanted to do for a long time. Now that she was pregnant with her second child, it seemed as good of time as any. She flew with Mason and baby Mason to California, somewhere she hadn't been in so long and was booked at a room with a goo star rating, thanks to her father.

The next day she was taken to the cemetery and she looked towards Mason, taking her son's hand she walked to where the burial plot was for her mother. She hadn't been here in almost eight years now, each time she'd told herself she'd come and talk, something always came up. She took a deep breathe, sitting on the ground by the tombstone that was cracked and crumbling, reading Odessa Zamora.

"Hi mama." She pulled Mason into her lap, her husband kept a small distance, giving her privacy. I'm sorry it took me so long to get here. I meant to come sooner, but so many things have happened." Evie sniffled, she was already about to cry as she rested her hands on her stomach while the other balanced Mason. "I went to New York. You always wanted me to get out of here, find a better place. I did. There's this guy, Snake, he took me in. I know, the name Snake is really weird, but he's great. He's given me a lot. You'd love him, he's right up your alley. As you can see, I've got a kid. Another on the way. No, I didn't have them out of wedlock. Remember that boy I talked about? Mason? I wound up marryin him. You said it'd work out in the end. I guess you were right." She sighed a bit. "This is Mason Jr. He's the first one. He's going on two now. Amazing huh?" She smiled a bit and ran her fingers over the stone and frowned as it crumbled in her hand a bit. They used some cheap stone to make this, it was already eroding.

Mason was getting fussy so she gave a small sigh and let him go, who once she did, ran right over to daddy. Evie rested her hand back on her stomach and smiled. "This one's almost due. I wish you could be here Mama. I know you would have straightened up given the right care...the right patience. I should have tried harder to get that for you. I can't stop thinking that I failed you as a daughter somehow by not. As for the rest of the family, the only two I can account for are Essy and Carlos. They live at Snake's with us. Essy's going to college, studying photography and has a boyfriend. His name is Kegan. He's a little older then I was expecting but he treats her good. She's happy. She takes all the family photos pretty much. Carlos is working at Snake's shop, doing mechanics. You know that though or should have figured he'd be putting that talent to some use. He's got a girlfriend too. Some girl named Hayley, she definitely keeps him on his feet. She's a smart ass like him. Prolly why they get along so well sometimes. "

There was another pause as she wiped her eyes and sniffled. "Snake got married to my best friend, he wasn't so lucky with having kids of his own, but he managed to get her knocked up. It's like some kind of miracle. He's giving me away at my wedding, it's gonna be in the summer, in the backyard when all the flowers are in bloom, he said it's the perfect time. I hope you're gonna be there, watching me from where ever. You always said your one dream was to see me walk down the aisle. Well, you're getting your wish mama. I hope it's enough for you. I'm going to make it out to see you more often after the babies born. I promise. I'm going to make a effort this time. No more making excuses. I've made enough. I know you're with me, you always told me you would be. I'm just sorry I wasn't able to save Rosa. She's with you isn't she? I hope so, tell her I'm sorry. Tell her...tell her I love her."

Now Evie was crying full out, she cared little about the fact that her mascara was running down her cheeks or that she'd get red eyed. She pushed herself up and kissed the top of the tomb stone, running her fingers along it as she stood. She walked over to Mason, who wrapped his arm around her and took the child's hand with his other arm. He kissed the top of Evie's head with a small frown, he hated seeing her cry. She just leaned against him, walking back to the car and onwards back to the life she'd been given.
