The students milling around, the sound of the school bell, someone getting yelled out - oh, sometimes she did miss this, no matter how crazy that idea was. To be normal, Nancy would argue, is what she missed, but honestly, deep down she missed going to a normal school. May almost missed Nancy completely.

That kind of thing happened when you were thinking about... well, a million other things. If she hadn't turned her head at the exact right moment, she would have missed the other girl completely.

Just a little hesitantly, May raised her hand in a wave.

If they'd both been in costume, this would have been sooo much less awkward.

Nancy returned the wave, just as hesitantly. In all honestly, she had preferred to run into J.J. first - not that May wasn't a welcome sight, just... well... they'd had their troubles. She knew that was the distant past and this was now, but she'd been away for so long, things could have changed.

No, she decided firmly. May was a good person, and with that in mind, she was going to speak out.

"Hi!"

"Hey, Nancy. Good to see you," May said. And it was, really. "What brings you back to Midtown?"

It took all she had to not call it Sunnydale, especially after everything that had been going on lately.

Nancy smiled, but the hesitation was still in her body language. "Well, my family still lives nearby, so I came to visit. I thought... it seems silly, now. I kind of miss high school. Doesn't that sound crazy? Who misses high school?"
