In art school I read a biography of the director Preston Sturges. One of the colorful stories about him was that he didn't wash his hair. He rinsed his hair but didn't wash. I figured that was not really a huge problem in the age of brilliantine. However, my hair gets oily quickly so I figured I'd never do such a thing.  But I read the Chron's

Thanks, J. I'm on my 6th day (I theenk) and it's very difficult to resist the urge to shampoo. I've given my scalp a good scrubbing every day in the hot bath and I've brushed much more than usual but it still feels weird. And looks a bit weird. It doesn't help that I've got a grown out hairstyle. If I'd just had it cut, this would probably be fantastic for it. Having oil in my hair gives it much more body.

I've resisted the urge to shampoo because everyone says the 1 week point is the worst and that it gets better from here.
