Trying to convince myself that non-attendance at the RPGSoc party tonight was a wise decision, and that I'm better off staying in and studying. Not doing too well at the moment, but I'm going to try to get lost in a couple of papers and maybe I'll be more enthusiastic later. At least I think I've thoroughly knocked on the head the idea of using X across my home network.

If you have X-aware SSH server and clients, it's as simple asssh -Y hostname
OpenSSH (the one that comes with most Linux and BSD distros IIRC) supports this on both client and server sides, and PuTTY works as a Windows client.

Although there may be an issue with setting up an X server on Windows to display the windows you receive if that's the way you're doing it... I've done it in the past, and it took somewhere between 5 minutes and 96 hours. It was long enough ago that I don't have any useful advice to offer, though.
