Physical

A question on a sample quiz for physics:A ballon is 300m above the ground, rising with a speed of 12m/s, when a child falls out of the basket. How long does he live?
Now, while I'm certainly not a fan of the physics, at least they're making it amusing. In a sadistic sort of way (as I would expect from a class at Tech).

In case you're curious (and because it's practice for me):
x = x0 + v0(t) + 0.5at2
0 = 300 + 12t + 0.5(-9.81)t2

[-b +- sqrt(b2 - 4ac)] / 2a
where:
a = -4.91
b = 12
c = 300

[-12 +- sqrt(144 + 5892)] / -9.81 = -6.7 or 9.1

Since he can't die before he falls out (presumably), it's not -6.7, so it's 9.1s.

PS: Now I shall go weep for what I've become.
