this letter is at once gorgeous and not-at-all surprising.
It's funny when I think about the way that your relationship brushed lightly across my throat--finding oz on the bus one day, a bag full of items he was trying to give away. He wanted very badly for me to take 4 rolls of scotch tape and 2 rolls of packing tape, but instead a chose the soft orange scarf. He was less willing to part with it, and i asked if maybe, in that case, he might consider removing it from the bag. So he gave me the scarf. I loved it, but it was very very large, requiring me to wrap it at least 4 or 5 times 'round my throat. On my short body, I looked like I was wearing a neck brace. So I decorated my room with it. You would later identify it as yours.
I know the very scarf, having giving it as a birthday present one year. My gifts to him were almost always warm clothing or food because, well, he was almost always cold and/or hungry.
This is actually four long letters that I distilled into one. This, of course, begs the question of which of the two of us is crazier.
I have a guess as to the answer, but it's only a guess.
I can't believe he still sends you these letters- it is intriguing, mysterious, I work with psychosis everyday, and from afar it can seem like an intriguing, mysterious thing. A break from reality brought on by very severe trauma. And yet, so romantic and strange.
It gets even weirder-- in the latest email he mentions getting shocked by the electric goat fence and complains/brags about how he's able to sleep with any person he desires. It's all just manic surrealism at this point.
